About Lombok
The island of Lombok is fairly reserved in comparison to the other nearby islands, which may be the reason behind its small-scale tourist industry.
Very little was known about the island of Lombok before the 17th century, however it was once made up of a variety of states which were controlled by a Sasak prince. Lombok was invaded by the Japanese in World War Two, taking ownership of the island and nearby resorts. Fast forward to the 1980s, and the island underwent a number of re-developments, which saw the tourist industry boom.
