“Nice Villa on beautifull Ko Lanta” We stayed in the Levels for 2 weeks last november. We loved the location because is not far from all the nice beaches on the island. Keep in mind that renting a small motorbike or car is recommended because the house is located on a hillside and impossible to reach for a tuk tuk, walking up and down the dirt track can be challenging especially at night. The villa itself is nice. It is spacious, has all the necessities and fanastic views. The only remark we had was the cleanliness of the kitchen appliances. We told Nick, the new villa manager (who by the way is a very nice guy), about it when we left so we are sure he solved this this problem by now. You will also not need them a lot because Lanta as so many nice and cheap restaurants.

“Just like home from home...” Arrived New Year's eve and stayed 5 nights (4 ladies). Serge and Pat were brilliant, friendly hosts and very attentive/helpful guides too; Pat organised some trips and taxi's for us. The villa is very stylish, very clean, tidy and compact with everything we needed (including an electrically charged mosquito swatter that we enjoyed frying the mozzies with! It was close to the beach and not too far from the main street but far away enough not to be bothered by traffic or noise. We just kicked back and stayed fairly local most days as the beach had everything we wanted, eg fabulous beach, sunsets, variety of bars/restaurants and massage, although it was busy it didn't seem too crowded. Would definitely recommend this to others and would love to go back with a bigger gang of us to rent out the two bungalows. The owners have a bakery/coffee shop just up the lane and across the road which sells a fabulous array of delicious food. Can recommend the various (large) salads and the homemade lasagne was yummie too! 10% discount for guests staying in the bungalow. Thanks Serge and Pat for making our stay that extra bit more special.

Ko Lanta holidays

An island boasting ‘sea gypsies’ housed on stilts above the water, a beach regularly listed as one of the world's best, and some of the most amazing sea diving anywhere... welcome to Ko Lanta! Book a holiday rental on Holiday Lettings and find your very own slice of this beach paradise!

About Ko Lanta, Thailand

Formerly a rest destination for sailors trading en-route from Phuket to Penaang, Ko Lanta (Yai) is the largest of several little islands on Thailand’s west coast.

Measuring 22 miles long from top to bottom, it's fringed by beaches – which are far prettier in the south. These in turn are graced by lapping waves from the warm and beautifully clear Andaman Sea.

The residents here comprise several 'faiths', resulting in a fascinating mix of cultures. The majority are Muslim, but there are also many Thai-Chinese. The traditional sea gypsies have their own beliefs, customs and even their own language. The various cultures live happily side by side and can often be found mingling at each other's religious and cultural celebrations.

Sporadic bursts of tourism occurred in the 1980s, but the island is still relatively unspoilt. In fact, mains electricity made an appearance only two decades ago.

What to do in Ko Lanta, Thailand

Go island-hopping for a day on one of the boats which also offer snorkelling stop-offs. You’ll also get the chance to do a little sea kayaking. There’s no better way to see the stunning seascapes.

Hire a guide to take you through the rubber plantations and into Khao Mai Kaew Caves. Sitting in the island’s centre, these giant mazes of rock boast stunning stalactites and stalagmites, as well as an indoor lagoon.

Kantiang Bay is a curved white sandy beach of around 1km in length and regarded as the island’s best beach. It’s not crowded, even during tourist season, but does attract a lot of snorkelling enthusiasts keen to explore its amazing underwater corals.

Embark on a trip to the sea gypsy Village at the Old Town. The sight of houses on stilts above the water is pretty breathtaking, but so too is the fact that families have lived here for generations and still pretty much keep their own council.

Top travel tips for Ko Lanta

Arrive by ferry on the northern tip of the island from Krabi, Ao naang or Phuket. Hire a motorbike or 4x4 to get around (the roads aren’t good enough for a car). Most resorts happily arrange to collect guest from the ferry terminal in pickup trucks.

Experience life as a sea gypsy by staying in a basic wooden house on stilts; two are available in the Old Town for tourists to hire for the night.

Get bargain accommodation during the tourist 'low season' – April/May to October – when many resorts can be as much as 50 per cent cheaper.

Ko Lanta is a beautiful island with 'natural entertainment’ in the form of stunning underwater corals, underground caves, traditional fishing villages and amazing beaches. In fact, Ko Lanta is so beautiful and rich in marine life and forestry (mountains and virgin rainforests) that much of it is officially National Park territory.

Wherever you want to explore during your trip, you can trust Holiday Lettings to find you a rental to make your stay unforgettable. Start searching, today!

Perfect Choice

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Seagull Villa Gasalong and what a lovely place it is. The villa was very clean and tidy and it had everything you needed. Close to a lovely beach called Relax Bay which was about a 10 minute walk, we hired a scooter from the owners and this made getting around the island so much easier (there are plenty of tuk tuk's around if you don't want to hire a scooter). Heiko and Alice the owners were so helpful and friendly and it was nice to know that they were there if you needed any help or advice. Water was provided for us at the Villa and also it was cleaned and fresh bedding and towels provided once a week. The beaches on Koh Lanta are lovely not too crowded (just right for us). Bamboo bay was one of my favourites. Koh Lanta has to be one of our favourite Thai Islands so far, it can be as busy or as relaxing as you want it to be! Hope to return one day.see more
