“Nice Villa on beautifull Ko Lanta” We stayed in the Levels for 2 weeks last november. We loved the location because is not far from all the nice beaches on the island. Keep in mind that renting a small motorbike or car is recommended because the house is located on a hillside and impossible to reach for a tuk tuk, walking up and down the dirt track can be challenging especially at night. The villa itself is nice. It is spacious, has all the necessities and fanastic views. The only remark we had was the cleanliness of the kitchen appliances. We told Nick, the new villa manager (who by the way is a very nice guy), about it when we left so we are sure he solved this this problem by now. You will also not need them a lot because Lanta as so many nice and cheap restaurants.

Ko Lanta holidays

An island boasting ‘sea gypsies’ housed on stilts above the water, a beach regularly listed as one of the world's best, and some of the most amazing sea diving anywhere... welcome to Ko Lanta! Book a holiday rental on Holiday Lettings and find your very own slice of this beach paradise!

About Ko Lanta, Thailand

Formerly a rest destination for sailors trading en-route from Phuket to Penaang, Ko Lanta (Yai) is the largest of several little islands on Thailand’s west coast.

Measuring 22 miles long from top to bottom, it's fringed by beaches – which are far prettier in the south. These in turn are graced by lapping waves from the warm and beautifully clear Andaman Sea.

The residents here comprise several 'faiths', resulting in a fascinating mix of cultures. The majority are Muslim, but there are also many Thai-Chinese. The traditional sea gypsies have their own beliefs, customs and even their own language. The various cultures live happily side by side and can often be found mingling at each other's religious and cultural celebrations.

Sporadic bursts of tourism occurred in the 1980s, but the island is still relatively unspoilt. In fact, mains electricity made an appearance only two decades ago.

What to do in Ko Lanta, Thailand

Go island-hopping for a day on one of the boats which also offer snorkelling stop-offs. You’ll also get the chance to do a little sea kayaking. There’s no better way to see the stunning seascapes.

Hire a guide to take you through the rubber plantations and into Khao Mai Kaew Caves. Sitting in the island’s centre, these giant mazes of rock boast stunning stalactites and stalagmites, as well as an indoor lagoon.

Kantiang Bay is a curved white sandy beach of around 1km in length and regarded as the island’s best beach. It’s not crowded, even during tourist season, but does attract a lot of snorkelling enthusiasts keen to explore its amazing underwater corals.

Embark on a trip to the sea gypsy Village at the Old Town. The sight of houses on stilts above the water is pretty breathtaking, but so too is the fact that families have lived here for generations and still pretty much keep their own council.

Top travel tips for Ko Lanta

Arrive by ferry on the northern tip of the island from Krabi, Ao naang or Phuket. Hire a motorbike or 4x4 to get around (the roads aren’t good enough for a car). Most resorts happily arrange to collect guest from the ferry terminal in pickup trucks.

Experience life as a sea gypsy by staying in a basic wooden house on stilts; two are available in the Old Town for tourists to hire for the night.

Get bargain accommodation during the tourist 'low season' – April/May to October – when many resorts can be as much as 50 per cent cheaper.

Ko Lanta is a beautiful island with 'natural entertainment’ in the form of stunning underwater corals, underground caves, traditional fishing villages and amazing beaches. In fact, Ko Lanta is so beautiful and rich in marine life and forestry (mountains and virgin rainforests) that much of it is officially National Park territory.

Wherever you want to explore during your trip, you can trust Holiday Lettings to find you a rental to make your stay unforgettable. Start searching, today!

Seagull Villa Bungasaree
A very nice and relaxing place.

I spent 1 month in this beautifull bungalow. Very calm and relaxing place. Also very safe as there is always somebody looking at the area. A very nice garden and the owner was looking everytime if everything is ok. I would recomend for everybody … see more
"Heaven on Earth" on Koh Lanta
A little bit of heaven on a beautiful and friendly island

This is a lovely villa on a beautiful beach. We were a party of 6 and although the villa is only 2 bedrooms there was plenty of room for us all. The villa is on Klong Nin beach which is a beautiful long stretch lined with small hotels and many good restaurants. The area is lively but not for those wanting to party the night away. We had 3 teenage children with us and there was lots for them to do. This is a great area for families.we had a great time on koh Lanta and loved this villa and would definitely come back again. Great place for a bit of R &R .see more
Seagull Villa Gasalong
Perfect Choice

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Seagull Villa Gasalong and what a lovely place it is. The villa was very clean and tidy and it had everything you needed. Close to a lovely beach called Relax Bay which was about a 10 minute walk, we hired a scooter from the owners and this made getting around the island so much easier (there are plenty of tuk tuk's around if you don't want to hire a scooter). Heiko and Alice the owners were so helpful and friendly and it was nice to know that they were there if you needed any help or advice. Water was provided for us at the Villa and also it was cleaned and fresh bedding and towels provided once a week. The beaches on Koh Lanta are lovely not too crowded (just right for us). Bamboo bay was one of my favourites. Koh Lanta has to be one of our favourite Thai Islands so far, it can be as busy or as relaxing as you want it to be! Hope to return one day.see more
Amintra 1 Pool Villa
It was the best stay!

It was our best trip to Thai ever! Nick and his family was very helpful and hospitable! He helped to arrange a transfer to our villa. Our villa was very clean and cool! You can find whatever you need for your convenient stay with your family and friends! We stayed with a 3 years old baby and we had so much fun - a swimming pool was always clean and we had toys to play with. Bathroom was clean and the best thing was that there was NO MOLD! Beach was great - we walked 3 mins to reach the beach and more 10 mins along the beach to get to the neacest part of it! If you still hesitate what place to stay?! - Choose this place you will never regret! Thank you NICK !!!!see more
Seagull Villa Leelawadee
Seagull Villa Leelawadee one of the best bungalow villas I have ever stayed at.

Having lived and traveled throughout SE Asia for 3 years, I have booked numerous hotels, villas, bungalows, resorts, etc. My overall general impression is that I have usually been over charged, over promised and the owners/managers have under delivered. I am very glad to report that Seagull Villas is the exact opposite. Heiko & Alice, the owners, have created a wonderful 3 villa complex that are exactly what you are hoping for. Each of the 3 are slightly different but all are great. I stayed with my girlfriend at Leelawade. Its a fairly new (I think about 2 - 3years old) villa (I think they are all about the same age) built with care and thought. It was very clean, bathroom and kitchen (I have a thing about dirty, grungy, unhygienic conditions) were spotless. Kitchen well equipped, Air/Con that worked well, WiFi that was better than many high end resorts, TV (with some english stations) that worked well -not that we watched much but nice to have, linens and towels, cleaning service if you need/want it, huge balconies/decks/terraces on each bungalow that are great for having a drink, a meal, or just hang out. Heiko & Alice were great, they provided us with great intro to the villa, made sure that the motorbike we rented from them (very convenient and much needed - more on that a little later) was gassed up and parked right in front of the villa, provided us with all kinds of info about bars, restaurants, beaches, activities etc. and then like a good waiter at a fine dinning restaurant slipped away and did not disturb us - but they were always just a walk away across the garden or a quick call. The pictures of the Villa are very accurate, at last a place where the pictures are a true reflection of the place. And talking about the place, Seagull Villas are about a 3 min motorbike ride off the main road, so a motorbike is a must. If you are looking for a secluded villa, with a ton of privacy, away from the tourist horde then this is the place for you. I researched many Villas/Bungalows in Ko Lanta prior to booking Seagull Villa Leelawadee, most are significantly more expensive and often do not measure up, a few others are less but they are not worth the advertised price even if they discounted by 50%, just nasty, dirty, overcrowded and underwhelming. Seagull Villas are a true "find" and if you book you will not be disappointed.see more
