“perfect getaway -- truly home away from home” My husband, our dog, and I are repeat visitors to Big Rock Log cabin. We have gone at least once a year since 2008 and all our stays at this warm, charming cabin have been uniquely different, but perfect in every way. The cabin itself is remarkable -- beautiful craftsmanship, amazing outsider and folk art collection, comfortable furnishings, and it's extremely well-appointed. Outside, the property and environs are like the entire Red River Gorge encapsulated. The beautiful woods and the wildlife can be experienced and enjoyed from the spacious wrap around porch/deck -- covered on the front, open on the side. And just a few steps away is an impressive natural rock shelter with an awesome fire pit. Often there is wood available for burning. We love Big Rock's proximity to hiking trails in both the Natural Bridge State Park and the RRG. We love that Big Rock is dog-friendly (but you would never suspect any dog has ever been there before, the place is so impeccable. But I think what I love the most is how much we feel at home at Big Rock.

“Very picturesque, tranquil and atmosphere made you feel down home.” The Generals Cabin is a wonderful, secluded mountain top retreat in the woods located outside Lexington, Ky. The weather couldn't have been more perfect for our weekend stay during this time of the year. With that in mind, we were able to really enjoy the picturesque surroundings such as walking the trail to the pond, grilling out and observing the sounds while relaxing on front porch in the rocking chairs. We even heard a turkey gobbling in the distance! The inside was just as peaceful with it's cathedral ceiling great room that has all the amenities of home. Centrally located is the majestic stone fireplace that gave a presence when you entered through the wooden double doors. Just to the right of the fireplace is an eclectic library with a desk that displays the history of the cabin. Quite a fascinating read. We also enjoyed the Natural Bridge Skylift in the Red River Gorge. Other activities available are climbing, trails and a zipline. Which we look forward to on our next stay. Everyone of all ages will remember this beautiful place and their time well spent just as we did. Our gratitude to the thoughtful management.Thank you :)
