“Lovely seaside villa in quiet and friendly Dahab” We had a very relaxing pre-christmas break in Dahab. The owner of villa Whitehouse, Axel who lives next door was very helpful even before our holiday began. As this was our first time in Egypt and we were travelling with young children,he clarified quite a few of our questions via e-mail.He even did some grocery shopping for us on request and arranged for a baby cot and high chair.Airport transfers and local taxi trips were also organised via him.He provided very useful tips and suggestions during our visit and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. The villa is spacious and has gorgeous views. We went to sleep and woke up to the sounds of the sea!The villa is located close to shops and local restaurants- we can recommend Dai Pescatori ( just a short walk away from the villa) for lovely italian food.Overall we were very satisfied with our holiday in villa Whitehouse.
It's very hard to add anything to the previous reviews, but I'll try.
The Whitehouse is owned by the lovely Axel who was truly welcoming and helpful - he arranged our collection from and to the airport, showed us around the house, which is beautiful and as we arrived in the early evening let us settle in and then took us on a tour of the area the following day. The house is incredibly well appointed, we wanted for nothing and even if we found that we needed something, we simply asked and it was provided.
The rest of my family spent the holiday diving with Dive Urge which is a 2 minute walk away - their service is outstanding, as for me, being an exercise freak I spent the holiday running and cycling. Axel has a few bikes for rental - these are decent bikes too. I have a Stumpjumper at home, so was delighted when he arranged for me a to have a good mountain bike, complete with bike lock and bungee to strap my towel on with. I felt perfectly safe throughout my solitary cycles - travelling to the Blue Hole and to the various other dive sites. I was once approached by a guy who wanted to talk to me when I was on the beach, I politely but firmly said 'No thank you' and he left me alone. As a runner I did get some odd looks and the occasional child joining me for a while, but again, I felt perfectly safe.
At the time of writing there is a high security alert for this part of Egypt, but I have to say that I have never felt safer anywhere. There are a few of check points manned by armed officers, yes, but they ensure that everyone is safe, checking incoming vehicles, etc., we didn't find their presence threatening or worrying, quite the opposite in fact.
I have to say that this is one of the best places I have stayed from the point of view of the house and the location. There are lovely restaurants 2 minutes away serving a wide variety of food - from pizza to local dishes, the local bakery has been recommended already - it REALLY is that good.
Finally - a BIG thank you to Axel for his hospitality - we met as strangers and came away friends. …
Sea Stars Apartment
What a gem!
Having read the excellent Trip Advisor reviews before travelling we had very high expectations of the Sea Stars apartments and were not disappointed. You really couldn't wish for a better base for a self-catering holiday in Dahab. The apartment was very comfortable, clean and convenient with lovely views of the mountains and sea. Tim was extremely welcoming and helpful, always willing to answer questions, offer advice and suggest the best places to go with our three children. Abdu and Hassan were on hand to help arrange taxis, carry kayaks etc, a great team! We will certainly be recommending Sea Stars to our friends and we hope to return there again. …
