“Beauty at its best!” Another wonderful stay at the Casita...the birds...the river...the flowers and a comfortable stay...there is not much more a person needs. Patty has put her heart and soul into making it where anyone who stays there...will walk away very happy and will want to come back ...just as I did!

“An adventure in Quietness!” An adventure in Quietness! If quiet and rural is what you desire, read on! My trip started from Seattle, driving to Santa Fe for a conference. After the four day session, I needed to rest and relax before heading back. Having read an article about a ranch outside Durango, Colorado, I called to make a reservation. The owner, Kristie, answered the phone, and was the most congenial person I have spoken with in a long time! She explained it was very quiet there, and quite rural. Just what I needed to R&R.; Arriving after a 5-hour drive, I was pleasantly surprised. A beautiful iron gate on the lower driveway opened to a long, winding road to the top of the hill. What met my eye was the greatest view in the world. A quaint cottage beautifully set to enjoy the incredible scenes of mountains filled with snow, sunshine in the day, and magnificent bright stars at night. This one bedroom cottage was exactly as described. All the accoutrements of a harvest kitchen, a living room filled with lovely, relaxing furnishings, wood fireplace, and a large TV. A roomy bathroom with a glass door bathtub, and a patio out the kitchen door with a wonderful BBQ...what more could I ask for? This is truly a magical cottage, perfect for a single person, or Honeymooners, or for folks celebrating their anniversary. Don't delay in making a reservation---as soon as word gets out, people will clamber to stay in this wonderful quaint cottage. No more hotels for me! Dr. Patricia arthur Seattle, Wa

“Home away from Home” We felt right at home at The Pines. Linda met us upon arrival and warmly welcomed us to 'our home away from home'. Notes on the fridge and the comprehensive package that we received prior to our arrival really helped us settle in comfortably. Every amenity was available- gas BBQ, fireplace, laundry facilities, games, tourist brochures and food basics in the pantry. We enjoyed staying in a rural setting with a quick highway drive to Durango. The biggest plus is that the Durango Silverton steam train runs at the back of the property. My husband, who is a model train hobbyist, was thrilled. He always had the movie camera ready to capture the daily runs. Great place with great value!

“Location, Location, Location” Perfectly situated near several mountain biking and hiking trails. The Colorado trail is within easy walking distance from the residence. You can even pan for gold in Junction Creek! A beautiful family owned home that is warm and welcoming.
“Absolutely Beautiful !” My husband and I stayed in the beautiful newly renovated loft above the barn and we could not have been more satisfied. The 360 degree views from the loft let us watch horses grazing in the pastures and the sun setting over the surrounding mountain ranges. At night the quiet provided the peaceful relaxation we were looking for and magnificent star gazing, too. Each morning we were greeted not only by the sounds of grazing horses but also by the very friendly resident black and tan coon hounds. The pictures do not do the four room loft or the surrounding property justice as both are more beautiful then we could have imagined. The loft is well appointed, spacious, clean and stocked with every necessity and the owner was more than gracious in answering questions. The ranch, located about 25 minutes from downtown Durango, is the perfect spot to wind down after a day of hiking, biking, fishing or shopping. We strongly recommend the HD ranch and we are already making plans to return next summer!

“Great Durango House” We really enjoyed our stay at the Rincon Lodge. We were there for six days on a family vacation with my husband's family- his parents, sister, her husband, two nieces, and our family of 5. There was plenty of room for us to spread out, yet still be all together. Our favorite part of the lodge was the incredible views from the wrap around porch. The kids loved the large bunk room downstairs, complete with a closet full of toys! The location was great too!! A short drive from the airport and only about 20 minutes into downtown Durango. We felt it was the best of both worlds- secluded enough for peace and relaxation with amazing views, yet not too far away from all the attractions and things we wanted to do in town. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed, but the furnishings are a bit dated, especially the TVs. Not a big deal since we weren't there to be inside much, but at the end of a day we still liked to relax and watch a movie. Scott, the caregiver for the property, was very attentive and helpful each time we called or needed him. Overall, it was a great experience and every one of us had a wonderful time!! Hope to be back soon!

“Refreshing and relaxing location. A real standout.” For us,the barn loft was the standout of the 11 locations from our month on the road. We really enjoyed meeting Francie and enjoyed our stay at the HD Ranch. We think about it often. For the first time the accommodations and decor were actually better than the photos looked...and the photos looked pretty darn good. Second bedroom with the built-in desk is great for doing a little work when needed. WiFi and all. The floor to ceiling built-in storage provided more than enough space for our stuff. Plus a walk-in closet. Easy to stay here for a month or more. Waking up...with the sun shining in through the floor to ceiling bedroom windows made it easy to greet the morning. It was fun to watch the horses and pet the dogs. The barn cats even made a few evening visits to say hello. The huge shower has a built-in steam room...however we never took the time to figure it out. (We would have traded the steam room for a washer & dryer to avoid spending an afternoon in Durango at launder-mat. No big deal, after all this is a working ranch.) This is a super clean barn. 24 horses in the pastures. No offensive barn odors. No horse flies. No piles of manure. It truly was a refreshing and relaxing visit. We certainly look forward to doing it again.

“Family Vacation” We really enjoyed the Double J cabin. The cabin is cozy and well equipped with anything you might need. We especially liked the back view of the cabin from the deck and the ease of getting to the Durango Mountain Resort for skiing.
