Chiang Mai Province holidays

Chiang Mai Province

This idyllic province, nestled in the mountainous area of North Thailand, is a not-so-secret paradise for travellers from all over the world.

Whether you want to immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the city, or lose yourself in outdoor pursuits, both Chiang Mai and Holiday Lettings can help make your dreams a reality.

About Chiang Mai Province

Chiang Mai is the second largest province in Thailand. But, despite its similar size, it is very different to Bangkok.

If you're looking for a sophisticated metropolitan getaway, Bangkok is where you should go. For everything else, head to Chiang Mai province.

It's more like a rural retreat. But, don't worry, it has everything you need for a fantastic holiday.

Chiang Mai can be found near the Mae Ping River Basin, surrounded by the glorious mountain ranges of the Thai highlands. This provides spectacular views and lots of opportunities for outdoor adventures.

Founded in 1296 and originally the capital of the Lanna Kingdom, it was the cultural core and the centre of Thailand's Buddhist faith. In fact, King Meng Rai built an incredible number of temples that you can still visit today.

What to do in Chiang Mai Province

Chiang Mai Province is a beautiful destination with plenty of natural and manmade wonders for you to explore.

Discover Doi Inthanon National Park, and climb to the summit of the highest mountain in Thailand—Doi Inthanon itself. Make sure you don't miss the waterfalls, either!

Explore the city and markets, and make sure you visit the spectacular temples. Even the steps leading up to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep are impressive.

For you foodies, why not try a cooking course? You'll learn how to make traditional local meals including nam phrik ong—a spicy chilli paste made with minced pork and tomatoes. Yum!

The adventurous holidaymaker can try their hand at rafting, hiking and mountain biking. But, if you're looking for a more laid back holiday, we'd suggest soaking in the hot springs and taking a leisurely stroll around the botanical gardens.

There are also plenty of places for you to interact with elephants. You may even get to feed them (they like fruit and veggies, just so you know).

Top travel tips for Chiang Mai Province

Chiang Mai province doesn't really get cold, but it does get wet—thanks to the tropical climate. Just remember to pack a lightweight mac and you'll be all set!

If you want to truly explore the city, take a tuk-tuk or a samlor (rickshaw). They're great fun and can wind in and out of the traffic with ease.

This part of Thailand is known for its hand-crafted items. From silver jewellery to elaborate parasols, you'll see it all in the local markets. Make sure you pick up a souvenir or two.

Chiang Mai has everything you could possibly need for the perfect holiday. Just book your holiday rental on Holiday Lettings and start your adventure today. You won't regret it, and you'll create unforgettable memories.

StayHome Homestay
Wonderful adventures in Real Chiang Mai

Stayhome homestay is my best experience in Chiang Mai so far. From the moment the host picked me up at the airport, he made me feel welcomed as if I were his younger brother returning home. Location: Stayhome homestay nestles at a quiet suburban community. Locating at the Southwestern part from Chian Mai International Airport, it takes about 15 mins to travel to the Old Town of Chiang Mai. If you don't have a car, don't worry, the host will provide daily round-way transfer between home stay and town. Facility: Basically the guests have access to the entire homestay building. Everything is clean and looks just like the pictures . There are 3 spacious rooms at Stayhome home stay. All of them are new, fresh and decorated with Lana and Burmese cultural touch. Bed is so cozy that I literally slept the whole time on my first day. Smart TVs are equipped at each room, clean towers are provided everyday. Shower room is big and clean. My favorite is to hang around at the living area and the study room. Natural sunlight illuminates the study room in the daytime, and being able to be drowned with the host's well-selected collection of books is such a blast! Food: The most amazing thing about Stayhome homestay is the freshly-prepared breakfast served by the host everyday! From western style garden salad to local favorite Tom Yam Had soup (Tom Yam flavor mushroom soup), the host got it all. I enjoyed having breakfast with his family so much, not only the fresh, spice-packed food, but also the opportunity to really interact with a real Thai family. The host has a lot of interesting stories about his family to share, I am sure you future guests will all fall in love with the family as I did. Activities: Since Stayhome homestay is a bit far from downtown, the host makes sure that guests get NO dull moment with him. During my stay, he took me to some hidden gems that are not well-known to foreign visitors, including an amazing riverside cafe, a private garden gallery and a far far away meditation spot in the mountain. For visitors who wanna travel to nearby sites such as umbrella-making village or local market, the host will take you there and offer you some local insights. I enjoy my time with Stayhome homestay very much. I'll definitely choose him as my accommodation next time I am around.see more
guest house in the palms
3 days/ night in the rainforest

A wooden house right in the jungle ! Though surrounded by houses and streets/ roads but the only sounds you will hear are the running stream and the birds singing.Banana trees and all sorts of exotic trees and plants are your view from the room windows. The rooms themselves are absolutely incredible! Decorated and furnished with a mixture of Thai and Canadian/ Native Indian style. Some might not appreciate the dust and spider webs, but remember you are right in the nature ! ;) .Bob is a very generous and available person, he picked me up from my previous place and gave me a lift to the airport, on the last day. I also had the surprise to be offered a much bigger room than planned when I booked. Teck house in the Palms is a very special place indeed. You must try it if you are looking for a quiet, unusual stay in the Thai nature. Thanks Bob !see more
Deluxe Town House in the Heart of Chiang Mai's Old City
Outstanding Apartment- Delightful Owners

From the moment we booked the apartment we knew that we had done the right thing. Charles, the owner, was a delight to deal with, responded immediately to all the questions we had and offered us some fantastic recommendations of things to do whilst in Chiang Mai. When we arrived at the airport he had arranged transportation to the apartment and we arrived to find one of the most wonderful places that we have EVER stayed in. The pictures look amazing but we can honestly say that they do not do justice to the place itself- it is modern, yet colonial and had everything that we needed and more. All our trips had been organised by Charles and were prepared for us including a cookery class, zip line experience and a day with the elephants and there was a comprehensive guide book to assist us further with recommendations for eating and visiting. The apartment itself is situated in old town and just a few minutes walk from everything including temples, the main town and the Sunday market. We honestly could not have wished for more and at the end of our visit to Chiang Mai Jay arrived to collect us and return us to the airport at some ungodly hour with both a smile and gifts of breakfast treats. As host Charles and his team are just perfect and with accommodation to compete with some of the best hotels they have the complete package. A gem of a find and an absolute recommendation to everyone to go there as soon as you can- you will NOT regret it for a moment.see more
"Affordable Luxury" New Detached 4 Bedroom Villa
Wonderful stay with family

We were a family of 7 adults and 3 kids looking to spend our pre Christmas break in Chiang Mai and the villa was perfect for us. Very clean and comfortable, with cooking amenities for us to prepare breakfast. John was there to greet us on arrival and for our departure and made sure we were fine. Great wifi and TV for kids. We rented the minivan for our stay there and Mann, our driver and guide was really helpful in offering suggestions and driving us around. We loved the cooking class, zip line, temple visits, night bazaar and massages! We will come back again!see more
The Shine, luxurious, five star, Night Bazaar area
This is a five star apartment

If you want a home from home whilst staying in Chiang Mai, I would definitely recommend this apartment. The building is spotlessly clean, has a nice pool and gym. Correspondence with the owner, Neil, prior to arrival was prompt and informative. When he discovered there was a lack of sunbeds around the pool area he went out and bought some more. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for him. The apartment itself is well quipped and I loved the super king size bed.see more
