“A beautiful home in a gorgeous, secluded setting” We spent 9 days at Maya Cala and it could not have been more perfect. The home is beautiful and has everything you need, including hammocks and kayaks and bicycles. The gardens are lovely and I never tired of looking at the changing colors and patterns on the lake. It really is the most peaceful setting you can imagine. We loved being in Mexico out of the tourist zone, buying tamales from a cart on the highway and wandering around Bacalar. Stop at the San Francisco Market in Tulum on your way down for the best selection of staples. We went zip lining, spent an evening at Mahahual, visited the Chacchoben ruins, and had the most delicious fried fish on the bay in Chetumal, but mostly we loved just being at Maya Cala, reading and enjoying the beauty of the place.
