Home description

Welcome to Da Casa a Casa, our home from home. In our opinion this is one of the best areas to stay in Barbados, away from the hubbub and traffic of the West coast but minutes from the sea and beaches of the East coast.

The villa is a newly completed house with private pool situated in a small development near Six Roads on the unspoilt east coast of Barbados. The house has been finished to a high standard and has all the accommodation and facilities needed to ensure that visitors can relax and enjoy this beautiful island.

The well equipped kitchen contains all the facilities you would expect to have at home.

All three bedrooms are air conditioned with good storage and the master suite consists of a large dressing area and en-suite bath/shower room.

There is a family bathroom with a walk-in shower.

The lounge is airy with a 40+ foot vaulted ceiling and fans. This leads out to a terrace where you can watch the sun go down whilst overlooking the pool and lawned and well stocked garden.

The St Philip Parish region

The parish of Saint Philip is a parish of Barbados at the south-eastern end of the island.

St. Philip has the largest land area of the 11 parishes of Barbados and has a relatively flat 'close to sea-level' terrain. St. Philip has the largest area of crop cultivation making it locally considered "the country". St. Philip does not have a 'true' city as some other parishes but rather 'areas' and 'villages'. Six Cross Roads is the largest area by virtue of both commercial and residential population and is the central hub for the parish.

Saint Philip is home to the Grantley Adams International Airport - the islands only airport.


Six Cross Roads area

This villa is situated on the idyllic and tranquil eastern side of Barbados about 300m from Six Cross Roads

Less than 5 minutes walk away, you can find banks, post office, supermarket, gas station and good shopping.

A 5 minute drive will take your to the beaches of Foul Bay and the renowned Crane Bay ( top 10 beaches in the world ). If you want the best beach on the island, then Bottom bay is a 15 minute drive. Take the BBQ with you !

A 10 minutes drive, will take you to the popular St Lawrence Gap renowned for its thriving night-life, numerous bars and restaurants.

It might be tranquil on the East coast, but its only a 30 minute drive to Barbados' capital - Bridgetown, where one can enjoy a Jolly Roger Day Cruise, visit the Mount Gay Rum Tour and enjoy the Atlantis submarine.

The house has been furnished with quality and comfort in mind and provides all the home comforts that you would expect.

The kitchen is fully equipped with Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher, Large Fridge/Freezer, Large stove and ample crockery, glasses and cutlery.

The lounge/diner seats 6 in comfort both on sofas and dining table. There is a LCD TV with about 100 channels ( Mix of US and South American - Lots of sport ! ). There is a Multi-region DVD player ( bring your DVDs with you ) and a HiFi with Ipod Dock and USB.

There is a 1/2 bathroom downstairs

The telephone makes free local calls and there is both wired and wireless internet for free.

Upstairs there are three comfortable and good sized bedrooms, one with a King and en-suite and another two with single beds and a family wet room. All bedrooms are air conditioned (please keep the windows and doors closed if the a/c is on!)

A powerful hair-dryer and straighteners are supplied (Don't bother bringing yours with you!)

(note: I can't guarantee that the ADSL and Satellite TV will work if the weather is stormy or very windy! - This is normal on the island!).

Further details outdoors:
The garden is fully stocked with semi mature plants and a lush lawn. The garden has automatic irrigation systems (watch out, you might get wet!) which run in the evenings in various zones.

The pool is 8m (26ft) by 4M (13ft) and runs from 1m (3ft3) to 1.8m (6ft). There are Roman steps at the shallow end. Please note that the pool is NOT fenced.

The house has two patios. A smaller one off the lounge and a large one off the kitchen.

Outside furniture is plentiful. There are loungers, tables/chairs, large parasol, pool toys and bodyboards. There is also a large BBQ and a portable BBQ (please replace the butane if you use this !)

The small print:

* Please note that the property normally sleeps 6, but there is a folding visitor bed to allow for a seventh person.

* Our housekeeper is called Judy. She lives over the road. She is Bajan but has lived most her life in East Ham, so expect an odd Bajan/Cockney accent! Her services are not included in the rental price. If you need maid or cook services then she will happily oblige, but you will need to pay her. The normal rate is about 100$US a week if services have been supplied.

* If you have small children please bring mattress protectors

* I may require a cheque (pounds or euros ) or a Credit Card number (will be verified) for a security deposit. Generally I don't bother, but if the group is all same sex then this is more likely to be requested

* The A/C is there to help you sleep in the heat. Please don't use it all day and night as this is very unfriendly to the environment and my wallet :). If you want a house at 15 degrees C then may I jokingly suggest Alaska!

* During your stay you may well meet the Gardener (Curt) and the Pool Man (Roger). They are both really nice guys!


Conditions

The really small print:

* The development is quite new. There is building work going on, but both houses each side and opposite are complete and occupied so there are no privacy issues. You can however expect some noise during the day (when you should be on the beach!)
