The Red Sea Riviera/Sinai region
Dahab, which means Gold in Arabic, is situated on the east coast of the Sinai area in Egypt next to the famous Red Sea. Dahab is much loved by many for its year round warm climate, abundant sunshine and laid back feel. It has slowly grown over the years from a small fishing village to the popular bustling town it now is. There is also breathtaking scenery here, not only the Red Sea, but also the dramatic mountains which boarder the area.
The diversity of activities available in the area adds to its popularity including: scuba- diving, free-diving, snorkeling, wind/kite surfing and mountain safaris too. As there is something for everyone it appeals to all kinds of holiday makers; families, couples, singles, groups of friends etc.
It is easy to organise trip whilst here; be it a trip to the famous Blue Hole for some snorkeling, or a trip deep into the mountains to experience the peace and beauty of sleeping out under the stars. A specialty of the area are Camel Safaris, where you can go for the day to one of the national parks such as Ras Abu Galum to snorkel for the day, eat a beautifully cooked lunch on the beach and return home on your trusty Camel.
Dahab has a main bay, the heart of the place and beach path or corniches running along it length. There are many shops and restaurants to sample on he way, all with friendly staff. In April every year there is a festival which hosts everything from camel races to Bedouin culture workshops to live music, great fun to be had by all, with lots for kids to do too.
