This beautiful Mansion was once an exclusive hunting resort of Raja Jyoti Prasad Singh Deo, King of Panchakote Raj (West Bengal) in the eastern part India. Now converted into a very beautiful, eco friendly heritage homestay by his descendents. This two-storied mansion is built in laterite stone, is situated close to the city of Cuttack in Odisha, near the forest and hills of Dalijoda range, which gives a scenic backdrop to the palace.
Two large water bodies in the foreground gives it a serene touch and tourists can enjoy an alfresco dinner next to the water on a moon-lit night, organized especially for you. This former hunting lodge is built like a chateaux inspired by European styles with its arched windows and doors fitted with multi-coloured glass.
Presently, this property is maintained by descendants of the erstwhile king. They have kept the property natural and wild, without disturbing its very essence and with great effort are renovating this mansion to its original glory.
Travelers are offered a real heritage home stay with delicious traditional, home-cooked food made by the members of the family. We organize a close look at Odisha's old temples, cult and culture, art & craft as well as serene tribal village life with their Haats or weekly markets and cock fights.
On request, we also organize trekking by foot or by cycle in the nearby forests and power boat ride on river Mahanadi. The place is a haven for anglers. Odisha's best locations for Angling and Sportfishing are located next to the property on the river Mahanadi famous for all types of exotic indian carps, snakeheads catfish, especially goonch, wallago attu, chitala, etc.
The area is a source of great attraction for scholars who like to study many different species of moths & other insectivora during the monsoons season.

The Odisha region
The region is on the eastern side of India adjoining the bay of Bengal and along a coastline. The Golden triangle of Puri, Konark and Bhubaneswar offers incredible insight into Odisha's past and present. It is rich in history with its beautiful temples in Konark and Puri. The Puri chariot festival attracts millions of tourists within India and outside during the second week of July every year. Odisha is a place that instantly relaxes you. Its vibrant people, their art & culture, tribal life, unique beaches, forests and wildlife offers tourists a wide range of experiences. Odisha offers a very moderate to hot climate round the year except for the months of Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb when the temp.cool off during the winters. The region experiences heavy monsoon spells during the three months of July/ Aug / Sept. Odisha is a great holiday destination for those who want to see and have an incredible India experience. The very sublime and serene lifestyle of the rural folk is very enticing. This region offers the best of traditional music & dance festivals, art and crafts exhibitions, and plenty of options to relax and rejuvenate.
Choudwar is situated close to the ancient city of Cuttack as well as Bhubaneswar, which is the capital of Odisha. The place is surrounded by lovely forests and hills of Dalijoda on one side and serene rural villages on the other -- offering the traveler a multiplicity of choices to experience local culture as well as the tribal lifestyle of villagers, including ancient practices such as cock-fights and their own version of a farmer's market. To complement your stay in Choudwar at Kila Dalijoda you can expect healthy, clean and traditional Indian food cooked in an eco-friendly kitchen. From wild-life safaris, bird-watching, nature-walks you can walk through tiny hamlets and have a glimpse of local village life or even witness the making of hand-crafted utensils a speciality of the area.
The area also offers plenty of opportunity for bird watching, nature photography, boating in river Mahanadi. This place is excellent for those who are still chasing butterflies, literally! The area is packed with a variety of butterflies, moths and beetles.
Just an hour away from Choudwar is also the head-quarter of the Alekha Mahima Dharma, where semi-clad sadhus or monks practice a unique cult. The nearby forest and the hills offer plenty of exciting trekking routes and the rivers, its creeks and lakes offer an ideal destination for Anglers for sport-fishing. Trophy size fishes of many variety, like all major Indian carps, snakeheads, catfish, wallago attu, chitala, goonch etc abound in these waters. It is recommended that those who are in the field of research for moths and insects must visit this area, specially during the pre-monsoon and monsoon season ( June end - Sept end )

"Kila Dalijoda - I wouldn't want to have missed it...."
I was going to do quite a different tour through Orissa, but when a friend suggested some alterations and a stay in Kila Dalijoda, I followed his advice and never regretted it (only that he didn't suggest to stay two or three nights instead of only one!): a beautiful, peaceful pleace in great surroundings, a very beautiful room, very clean and offering a grea atmosphere. Fantastic and varied freshly made meals. But the best is the host family: the young couple is doing their utmost to make you feel well and at home. They seem to have a very good feeling for what you wish to have at any moment, they speak an excellent english and are very knowledgeable. On top they are very environmentally aware, a rare thing in India and open to suggestions and new things. And though they are originally from a different place and a very different upbringing, they are very committed to the villagers around and seemingly appreciated by them. Being there, you shouldn't miss any of the hiking walks or outings suggested by them, and definitely you have to see the show of the village dancing group. My stay at Kila Dalijoda was definitely the highlight of my last trip to India!

It's a start-up property with one room only till date but it has a good potential as the family is working hard to make their guests happy. The location of the Kila is very peaceful and far enough away from any disturbance to have a rare noise-free experience. The food is home cooked and hence fresh and tasty.Exploring the surrounding jungle and unspoiled villages with the knowledgable owner can be a great experience.
