The Western Cape region

Tokai is one of the leafiest southern suburbs of Cape Town. Just 30 minutes outside of the city centre, it has natural boundaries with the Tokai Forests, the Constantiaberg Mountains and the Uitsig Wine farms.

A quiet, residential suburb, Tokai is conveniently close to beaches and mountains and the Tokai forest plantations, which were originally started by Simon van der Stel when he planted over 4000 oak trees here in 1694. The forests are a favourite haunt of locals with their dogs or on mountain bikes and there are a number of rivers that attract wildlife such as squirrels, guinea fowl and birds to the area.

Tokai was initially a farm and the original homestead still remains complete with a resident ghost story. Tokai has an abundance of indigenous and exotic tree species and this prevalence has sparked talk of a possible tree route through the suburb. Tokai is close to the beaches of False Bay, Silvermine Nature Reserve and the Constantia wine route.

Cape Town

“Cape Point" and "Cape of Good Hope"

The “Cape of Good Hope” is the southwesternmost point of the continent of Africa and is situated only meters from “the peak of the cape”

From “Villa Harbich” you can undertake wonderful day trips. One of those targets Cape Point and leads around the whole table mountain range. It starts in Muizenberg, follows along False Bay up to the entrance to Cape Point Natural Park. From there additional 13 km to the end of the peninsula. The way back follows the route via Scarborough and Misty Cliffs to Nordhoek, from there via the dream road of Chapman's Peak to Hout Bay, over the hills to Llandudno, along the “12 apostles” to Camps Bay, then via the gold mile of Clifton, Bantry and Seapoint to Cape Town, along Table Mountain to Newlands, Bishops Court and Kirstenbosch back to Constantia. A stunning day trip with a lot of sightseeing, points of interest as well as inviting restaurants along the way.
