“The accommodations and surroundings were supreme.” As a seasoned traveler, one of my favorite times was spent this May at the Sunset Canyon Ranch. There were three accommodations to choose from: a two-bedroom rustic cabin, a two-bedroom cottage, and a three-bedroom luxury log home. All three were enchanting, like something from a fairy tale. I selected the three-bedroom home which included every amenity possible. I loved lounging in the comfortable deck swing, listening to the nearby gurgling stream, and watching the hummingbirds buzzing around the baskets of petunias. The kitchen was equipped above par, and the lavish bedding and linens made me feel like a queen. In every nick and cranny of this remarkable home were interesting objects, books, plants, and conversation pieces. This place has a personality all its own. I could have spent the entire vacation just relaxing in front of the giant screen TV watching any of dozens of videos provided.
However, I did take time to explore the surrounding region. As anyone who's been there knows, the area of Zion's Park is one of the most gorgeous sites in the world--a photographer's paradise. I took nearly 400 photos in the park alone. The contrast of the red rocks, green foliage, and blue sky was absolutely stunning. Nature created her most glorious masterpiece in Zion's Park. I thoroughly enjoyed Springdale, a small community only 15 minutes away from the Ranch. Besides restaurants with delicious cuisine, there are dozens of interesting little shops selling exquisite wares of local craftsmen.
Rich with Indian and Mormon history, the city of St. George is only a 45-minute drive from the Ranch. Lured by the breathtaking landscapes, warm dry climate, and beautiful housing developments, St. George has become a haven for retirees.
Our host at the Sunset Canyon Ranch, Vickie Moyle, was the most accommodating hotelier of any in my world travels. I must say that my week-long stay was one of the best experiences of my life. I recommend it to anyone.
