“Paradise in Paraty” Staying at Casa Tartaruga has been one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. You get there by boat (there are no roads to the house) which is an amazing way to start the holiday. The house is so beautiful and set in a lovely maturing garden. There is every amenity, even television (but who would want to watch TV in this place). The views from the balcony are breathtaking. Sunrises that make you so glad to be alive. Sunsets to cry over. We swam every day in crystal clear water and watched life go up and down the bay. At night, the boat taxi can take you into Paraty to eat at wonderful bars and restaurants. The live Brazilian music played in many bars is hauntingly beautiful. I would recommend you cancel any plans or thoughts about going to Mauritius or Bora Bora or any other over developed tourist destination. This is really is the real thing.

“Paradise!!” This place was definitively a highlight of my trip to Brazil ! You can see the sea and some islands from your very same room. If you are looking for off the beaten track near Paraty or even near Rio de Janeiro, then this is the place to be. You can snorkel, swim or kayak in the area next to the house or just relax in the hammock overseeing it all. Access to Paraty (small, charming town) is by boat and takes around 30 min.
