“Perfect family get together” Ticked all the boxes for a perfect family venue. The kids were thrilled with the hot tub and there is plenty of space to spread out inside. Spacious bedrooms and ample bathrooms. Decorated tastefully and just a short walk from the beach. Winner all round!

“Delightful Devon at its best” What a great stay myself and my wife had at Downes Cottages. A fantastic secluded base to explore the delights of Devon and Cornwall. Beautifully appointed and not a single detail missed by Jeremy and Lynda. The cottage had everything we could have possibly needed, extremely comfortable, tastefully decorated and very well equipped. The facilities even include use of a well equipped gym and covered parking. We will definitely be booking again.

“A haven of peace and tranquility” Just returned from out 3rd visit to Downe Cottages, this time staying in Vine Cottage which is now our favourite. Very light and airey with lovely views over the garden- a perfect retreat for two. The cottages are very well equipped and are so quiet and peaceful in a beautiful setting and location (once you have navigated the narrow lanes from Hartland!). We have stayed in a number of cottages in the UK and these are definitely the nicest so far. The only slight downside is that there is nowhere within walking distance for good food although the Hoops Inn at Bucks Cross on the a39 was excellent when we visited. The local pub is okay but we weren't thrilled and thought it was quite pricey for what it delivered. We didn't have time to try the meals from the 'cottage delivery service' as we were out and about rather a lot. The cakes and cream teas at the Cheriston Lavender Farm are excellent and within a short walking distance of Downe. Well worth a visit. The cream teas at Stoke Barton Farm are also lovely and only a short drive away. All in all a wonderful week despite, at times, some rather disappointing weather.

“Fantastic - modern and clean” Stayed at the studio ( The end part of the barn) for a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. The apartment is new and spotlessly clean, slightly larger than the pictures suggest and in a very very quiet location. Everything you need was there on arrival and indeed so were some scones with conserve and clotted cream. Towels and bedding are Marks and Spencers quality if not the real articles. All of the accommodation is finished to a high standard and well insulated so as not to hear any noise whatsoever from the couple with children who occupied the other end of the barn during our stay. The garden is totally private with access through your own front door or by way of a lockable back door; therefore you aren't overlooked and can relax in the hot tub and garden in privacy. The tub was heated for the full duration of the visit and was ready on arrival. The owners are friendly, but leave you to go about your holiday without being obtrusive. Without doubt I will be back and recommending it to friends. You can even watch TV while relaxing in bed!! - Have fun.

“A little bit of Heaven in Devon” We booked the roundhouse to celebrate my Mum's 50th Birthday and it did not fail to deliver. The roundhouse is a lovely property and there was plenty of room for all members of the family including our young children and babies. Before booking the roundhouse Sue was on hand to answer any of our questions which I found very helpful. The facilities at Combrew are fantastic. The pool is a very lovely 36 degrees which meant that the children could stay and play as long as they wanted. In addition there is also the play park and the animals which I think add a lovely touch. I would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone and also cannot wait for another occasion for the family to get together.

“A great place for a family holiday” The Cottage is a lovely reteat from a busy city life. Cosy but very spacious. It really is wonderful place for a family of all ages, our party ranged from 3months to 76years and each and every one of us enjoyed the break. The kids loved the play ground,feeding the animals and playing in the swimming pool whilst the adults enjoyed working out in the gym, playing table tennis and generally relaxing within the cottage. Waking up to fresh eggs was something everyone looked forward to! We were lucky enough to have some beautiful weather to enjoy a BBQ in the garden, and would highly recommend visiting Woolacombe beach. There is an aray of attractions close by,there is lots of leaflets in the cottage for you to look at, we visited several!! Sue and her family were fantastic hosts, really friendly and very helpful. On call whenever to help us. Would love to visit again!

“Ideal location for walking, cycling and shopping with a cosy cottage to return to” We stayed for a weekend and enjoyed walking from Fremington Quay along the Tarka Trail to Instow. The Instow Arms had a lovely setting looking out over the beach. The Cafe at Fremington is also worth a visit for the cakes! The cottage itself was warm and cosy - clean - spacious bathrooms. We enjoyed the wonderful pool and sauna area. Returned home feeling relaxed and refreshed.
