Hiking & Walking Holiday Accommodation in Virginia - Holiday Lettings
“VA Countryside” Stan-
As usual my stay was fantastic. Even without the rest of the crew from VT it was nice hanging out! The back porch with all the trilliums and the stream was very cool. Of course all the bike riding to be had was fantastic seeing how we only had sprinkles one night and days were dry!!! I like the 'turn off' key with out real access to the outside world for a week is pretty nice. Well, I do manage to come over to the office to do laundry check email but most important is to check the weather for the area!! Seeing how we were having snow the first weekend in VT and I was in 60 and clear that seemed like a very nice thing!
The bicycling riding in the area is just unreal! Between the Parkway and the Skyline Dr but also the back country roads is just fantastic. We did one ride from Rockfish Gap out towards Charlottesville through all the azeleas that were just stunning!!
Thanks again for a great stay! Next year I might just stay longer than a week!! We'll see!!!
“The perfect place for a weekend getaway” This cabin was such a beautiful place to stay! It was super clean, secluded, and had all the amenities we needed for a weekend getaway! The master bedroom was super cozy with a big comfortable bed! It was very relaxing! The décor was very primitive and everything had such a "homey" feeling to it! We loved sitting out back around the fire! Firewood was even provided for us!! My husband and I were discussing with out friends our next visit before we even left!!! We will definitely be back!!
“Fun, Family Experience” Our family enjoyed their stay at Mountain Wood. We were visiting family locally, so many activities were already planned for us. The cabin was very clean, well stocked and in a beautiful location. We enjoyed sightseeing on the parkway! We also went to visit Monticello, we had visited there 20 years ago and wanted to take our family. Since our last visit Monticello has become very commercialized and we had not allowed enough time for the tour, so that was disappointing, but we can try again the next time.
Thanks for having such a nice, homey place for tourists!
“Far Exceeded Expectations” We rented The Warren for the weekend of my son's graduation from UVA and it was extraordinary. The house lies at the base of rolling hills that surround Charlottesville, in the heart of wine country -- a world away from civilization but only a short drive from town.
The house is very roomy and comfortable, decorated adorably with antiques and eclectic art collected by the owner (who is, not surprisingly, an interior designer). She couldn't have been more gracious, filling the refrigerator with breakfast items and the rooms with bottled water. Following each afternoon of traffic and crowds at the graduation, it was wonderful to retreat to the country with (lots of) family and friends to enjoy happy hour on the deck and to gather for dinner around the large central table. (Note: Libations for said happy hours were not hard to find: within walking distance is the King Family Winery where one can drink wine on the terrace while watching polo, and Starr Hill Brewery is just a short drive away.) We're sorry we didn't discover The Warren until our son left Charlottesville; we've recommend the home to many friends and are trying to come up with an excuse to go back ourselves.
“HAD A BLAST” I was looking for a good halfway meeting spot to link up with my sons...They are Marines stationed in North Carolina...We are from Ohio. The price was more than fair and the location was right...What an awesome surprise ..beautiful country, comfort ,southern hospitality, and memories for life ...going back to do it again! THANKS SO MUCH JODEE..
