La Calera; Four individual apartments in a converted cortijo
Great place, great hosts, absolutely loved it. Beautiful spot in a beautiful area. Very chilled break from the moment we arrived. Visited the nearby lakes, go karting at Campillos just 15 mins up the road (twice), the Caminito del Rey gorge walk, friends went to wolf sanctuary, took in sunrise from the veranda and sunset from teba castle, watched the footie, enjoyed Lindsay’s paella, borrowed their minibus many times and enjoyed their company way too late before a 9am departure the next morning. Raphael at La Solea was a star for great eats and gin measures, food everywhere good, not a tourist spot by any stretch but very welcoming of our nine strong group, hope to return …
La Calera - Malaga Apartment 2
When we arrived at Malaga airport you are greeted with typically tourist, English speaking - Spain. But a short drive to Teba and you escape all this. The closer you get to Teba, the hotter it gets and more rural and rustically Spanish. La Calera becomes visible on the approach to Teba, and placed right on the edge, the views and backdrop are beautiful. Our photos look like a backdrop screen -unbelievable!
La Calera itself is a set of 3 beautifully furnished apartments. There's a shared pool and lots of seating areas and terraces and sun loungers so you can be as involved with the Comers and/or other guests, or as isolated as you want to be. I'd say that La Calera caters for everyone and all ages as I'm 20, and went along with my parents and we all enjoyed the holiday equally! Our apartment was spacious, cool and you just couldn't fault it. I'd definately recommend Lindsays Seafood Paella if you venture to Teba, infact I'd venture to Teba just for the paella!
The Comer family are so hospitable and really made the holiday. From an honesty fridge, local knowledge, taxi offers, table tennis and watching the wimbledon final with a drink in the sun - there is nothing they don't do to make your holiday the dream break from day to day life.
Teba itself is an idyllic little Spanish village. Its worth that little English is spoken, if any at all, so a phrase book may be a worthy investment! But the locals are friendly and more than happy to help. We couldn't believe the prices either, there's no need for this to be an expensive vacation! The village came alive at night, with locals lining the streets at the bars and eateries and it's such a good experience!
Overall, I'd definately recommend Teba, La Calera and a stay with the Comer family.
I know I'd like to return.... …
La Calera - Malaga Apartment 1
Amazing location and a taste of real Spain
My boyfriend and I stayed at La Calera in July this year. Lindsay and Mark were incredibly hospitable and made us feel incredibly welcome. The property is nestled into the hills with amazing views across olive groves and the lakes. just taking in the view made us relaxed pretty much straight away!
The town of Teba was a taste of real Spain and everyone in the bars and restaurants were extremely friendly. The spot is also a perfect place to visit Saville, Granada and Cordoba - all of which are 90 minutes drive away.
I would heartily recommend this property, and Lindsay and Mark's spot of perfection in the Andalusian hills. Oh, and do try Lindsay's paella too!
Hope to go back very soon. …
