“Fantastic Farm Getaway!” We stayed at The Games Barn withour Parents and our 2 and 6 year old. The Barn had every comfort you needed, I cant actually believe I packed things for the children to be occupied with as this Barn is packed with Videos, Games (for young and old) and books! However, we didnt really use any of this as we had the most fun exporing and really enjoying daily farm life. You wake up in the morning and look onto a field with your cuppa and watch Charlie the Horse and Summer the Pony grazing. Look a bit to the left you have piglets and a bit more left and you have sheep in the field next to you! The decking area is great, you can hear the farm's stream trickling waters from your seat.. And if you're lucky Doris the Mummy pig will be having a little rest in her pen of which all can be seen from the Barn! My daughters (age 2 and 6) were up every morning and also in the afternoon to help Madeleine feed all the animals. They thought this was amzing - getting so close to the animals and learning so much about them too (we did too!!) My eldest loved collecting the eggs and even the little one feeding the chickens and ducks in turn. It was such a delight to see. There is so much to see at the Farm - from exploring the wildlife pond at the top field, going to see Homer the Daddy Pig ( and goodness me he is HUGE but so gorgeous ) who comes over when he can hear you talking and also the two little cows and some MORE sheep inc. Lambo of course. We had a lovely view of the sun going down also at the top field. The farm also has ancient woodland to explore by the stream over the weir which we all had great fun seeing Doris have a little drink and also building a little den with fallen sticks. The farm is situated about a 10 minute walk from Mayfield village, which is a lovley walk through the valley, fields and woodland ( with a great bridge to play The Three Billy Goats Gruff!) Mayfield itself is beautiful with beautiful buildings and you have your pick of some lovely pubs The Middle House being our favourite. You can even order Fred and Madeleine's Pork on the menu! Or you could just stock up while your at the barn as we did - delicious sausages for breakfast with same day fresh duck and hen eggs? Or some lamb for dinner? Yes Please! We had glorious weather for our week at Cranesden farm and made use of the seaside and Ashdown Forest which are all nearby - it really is an excellent base for walks, cycling and sightseeing - the area is really beautiful.... Fred and Madeleine were so welcoming and were fantastic with our children everyday - we really did have the most special week and were very sad to leave Chewo the Sheep Dog, George and Geraldine and all the other little Ducks and Hens so the only thing to do was to book again for Easter and go back!! If you are looking for a home from home with beautiful surroundings, great hosts and a real taste of farm life this is absolutely the place for you.....

“Incredibly Helpful” Very well appointed shepherds hut. Ingenious use of space and very private. Everything you could want is provided. We also suffered a bit of a disaster with our car on the second night of our stay and Sue and Tim could not have been more helpful in remedying the situation.

“Lovely home away” Comfortable and nicely furnished. Brilliantly equipped kitchen. A few nice “welcome treats”. Great communication and flexibility from the host. West Wittering beach about 10 minute walk away. Can’t really fault anything - was clean, comfortable and had a nicely homely feel to it. Thank you

“Better than perfect....we will not want to leave!” I am renting The Old Cricket Pavilion for 2 months, arrived on Saturday 28th January with my two dogs and just had to write a review already! 3 days later and we feel as though this is our new home! From previous reviews, I knew we were coming to somewhere special, but it isn't until you arrive here that the magic starts. Terrie is simply amazing - wonderfully clean, beautifully decorated, all the touches (and more) you could ever think of to make your stay stress free and perfect. Freshly laid eggs and a to-die-for homemade cake, milk, fresh coffee, scented candles, cleaning products and a brilliant torch for late night dog walks awaited us, as well as a plentiful supply of logs (which are well needed as we are going through a cold snap!). Nothing is too much effort and trouble. A phone and internet are also provided, such a great idea, as no reception with O2. The Pavilion is so light, with a number of rooms having two aspects. The slate flooring in the kitchen and bathroom is handy to keep clean with dogs. We adore the large lounge with the fantastic woodburner, that throws out a huge amount of heat - not that it is remotely chilly, the heating in here is brilliant and loads of hot water. The views from the kitchen onto the bigger than expected back garden (with adorable summer house) are stunning, already seen heron, fox and owls and of course the sheet, which the dogs love sitting and watching (the garden is very safely and professionally enclosed, so no problem there). We absolutely love, love, love it here. Dog walks from the door, including a lovely one next to the River Rother with the Castle in view. I have no hesitation in recommending it if you are looking for peace and quiet but only a lane away from Bodiam Castle, a pub and roads to Cranbrook and Hawkhurst. There is absolutely nothing to criticise, not even a niggle! We are meant to depart at the end of March but love it so much, we might still be here when you arrive! Thank you Terrie and Mike for making this a truly splendid retreat, it is no wonder you are so booked up....we will most definitely be back!
