Since the island has so many beach choices, we don't care about Gallows Pointe. What we care about is friendly staff, ease of checking in, beautiful sunsets from our room, proximity to town (easy stroll), clean rooms, etc.

“Tropical paradise” Imagine stepping out of the snow in your hometown to board a plane in the am and off just a few hours later into the sun and warmth of this tropical paradise!!! It's still hard to believe but how wonderfully refreshing it is!! Just a short ride up the hill to Bliss and the beautiful scene below will definitely make you smile with luggage still in hand! What great accommodations you will experience here...lovely views, quiet and private, beautifully re-modeled and fully equipped kitchen, bath and living area with a/C if so desired. A shared pool just steps below that is usually yours alone with the same spectacular view. A real "home away from home" and so comfortable when returning from a day at the beach, sailing, hiking or exploring any of the unique places on the island. “Better than ever” We stayed at altagracia for the second time in late February. Last year, the old deck wood seemed pretty rough and worn and now they have replaced it all with really nice smooth wood, which we appreciated. They are also building a big outdoor kitchen. I don't think we'd ever use the outdoor kitchen so I hope the rates won't be going up. Another big improvement was that they cut a lot of the foliage that was blocking the ocean views from the pool area. It is still private, but now you can see the water from the pool deck and the pool gets a lot more sun (they are working on a shaded pergola, which is definitely needed). We found we used the pool much more because of these improvements. The master bedroom/bath is really nice with curtains to block the afternoon sun (something a lot of houses don't have for some reason). We did find the bedroom aC unit was making a strange whining sound that kept us awake so we were unable to use it at night. It did not do this last year so I think it just needs maintenance. We didn't ask for maintenance while we were there. Catered To has been a pleasure to deal with. This house also has a very convenient location.

“An incredibly relaxing way to spend a sun drenched week.” This is our 20th or so trip to St. John and our third stay at Villa adagio. We've made the trip as a couple and with our three children. Either configuration is a winner. Our many visits have included quite a few of the nicest villas on the island and Villa adagio is a convenient, exceptionally appointed home at a ressonable price. A solar or supplemental heater to raise the indoor pool temperature a few degrees would be my only recommendation. Great experience and highly recommended.
