“A Proper Lewis Holiday Home - Bliss!” Stayed here with my partner, our 8 year old son and my parents. We have stayed in a few holiday lets on Lewis over the past 5 ro 6 years and can honestly say this is by far the best yet. Others may have fancier interior decor (with fancy prices to match) and some may lack even a bottle opener but this place was just right. I've never felt more relaxed on holiday, and dare I say it, more at home. the cottage is spacious, clean, comfortable and very well equipped including wifi. The location was perfect for us, and though I appreciate that will be a matter of personal preference it is quite central to Lewis and convenient for most main routes. Set back from the road just far enough to offer peace and quiet but close enough to make access straightforward. The views from the front of the house are lovely, especially as the sun sets, very peaceful. Everything we needed seemed to be at hand and with the stress of worrying about accommodation out of the way we were free to enjoy our holiday, just as it should be! Caroline & Kenny were fantastic, welcoming and friendly, they are sure of great success with this new venture. Kenny was good enough to show us his loom (next door) and we even got to have a little go at weaving the tweed. He also showed incredible patience with our son Charlie and his determination to become a sheep dog expert, throwing sticks for Dot & Sheila for hours on end. Sure it has some quirks such as the bath/shower (interesting challenge for someone 6'2" like myself) and the stair lift (useful to some, not to others) but they didn't detract from what was overall a real "find" as far as we're concerned. This was our first time at Taigh Granaidh but it almost certainly won't be the last.

“A wonderful week in a lovely traditional house with superb views!” We all had a brilliant week at Old Duffus. There were seven in our party aged from 14 to 75 and each and everyone of us enjoyed our stay. The house was very spacious and cosy with everything you needed and more. Everybody slept well due to the beds being so comfortable. The surrounding area was beautiful with a fantastic castle for a view. Not only this, but the location of the cottage near RAF Lossiemouth made for some exciting dashes to the garden. The garden's generous size and enclosure made for a perfect cricket pitch for the kids! There is plenty to do and see in Elgin and Lossie, with them both being a short drive away from the house. Would definitely recommend Rizza's ice cream parlor in Lossie. Yummy!! The welcome pack was a lovely touch, making us feel at home straight away. We will definitely be returning to Old Duffus!!

“Superb house and grounds for all ages.” The house exceeded our expectations. The rooms were large, well furnished and the garden room with log burner lovely for relaxing in at any time of the day. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of everything even with a house full. The large garden, with bbq area, was safe for young children, plenty of car parking and the dogs enjoyed the paddock and wooded areas. The house is accessible from the north and south and the surrounding border countryside lovely to explore. Tesco delivery is easy to arrange. All in all to be recommended and we hope to return for a longer stay.

“A great weekend at a beautiful house in a wonderful location” We (4adults and 4 kids) stayed here for the September weekend. The house is absolutely beautiful, well finished to the highest standard and equipped with absolutely everything we needed. It's in a really peaceful location and we had a couple of lovely walks through the estate-even picked some brambles! The kids and dogs had plenty space to roam and all are asking to come back as soon as possible. The owners couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and the welcome pack was much appreciated. All in all a great break and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend High Clachan.

“An ideal base from which to walk The Cateran Trail” We came to the Granary for a week while we walked The Cateran Trail - we could not have stayed anywhere better! The property itself is large, spaceous and very, very clean. The facilities in the Granary are outstanding - we loved the drying room (a luxury for us walkers) and the big sliding window onto the front area. We all felt right at home from the start and it was so much more than just a place to stay once we had finished our days walk. Debbie the owner is very friendly and helpful - on hand but not at all obtrusive, leaving us to enjoy our holiday. VERY MUCH RECOMMENDED

“Idyllic Retreat” We came as a family of ten to celebrate a 50th birthday, and could not have found better to accommodate us for the week. We walked, cycled, swam, barbecued, played golf, rode horses, played games inside on an evening and thoroughly felt at home in this delightful lodge. The accomodation was spotlessly clean and very well presented, with Rosemary, the owner not too far away. Having a large utility room as you come into the lodge was very useful for getting all our outdoors clothes and shoes off. The large and well equipped kitchen, includes two large fridge freezers, excellent large cooker/oven, microwave and all you could want for a large group. There is even the services of a cook if you require one for that special occasion. The bedrooms are delightfully decorated. There is a dining room and a comfortable lounge which leads out to the private garden. We stayed a week, but quite honestly we all could have stayed much longer as the property has a very homely feel to it. Portpatrick and Stranraer and both not too far away if you need to dine out or get supplies.

“Comfortable and cosy” The house was warm, cosy very clean, it had everything we could possibly want. There was a problem with the kitchen tap, but the owner sent a plumber in to fix it within a day. I would highly recommend this property to anybody. Ideal for large families or groups of people.
