About Salisbury

The first people to inhabit the area around Salisbury, Massachusetts were the Pennacook tribe of Native Americans. They lived in the Merrimac Valley area and use the river for transportation. In summer, they camped at the wetlands and used the area as their fishing and hunting grounds.

The first European colonists arrived in New England in 1631 and settled in what's now called Salisbury in 1639.
