“loverly” nice place. however, for the price we would have expected some discount from the restaurant below for being in the same building and having no choice to their occuoational smells and noise. thoruoghfare from the pizza place behind to be for us as occupants only. bathroom showers to be water tight and not flood either of the bathrooms. a bath would have made a difference places of this price range that we have stayed include a welcome gift such as a bottle of wine and or chocolates. the tree directly infront of the building and view could be pruned as such that occupants could see the beautiful view

“superb location and thoughtfully appointed” We had a multi family holiday in Russell with two holiday houses but with Tapeka del Mar as the base. The other house was unpleasant to stay in - emphasising the quality of Tapeka del Mar - which was immaculately clean, had good bed linen (real doonas), nicely decorated, with good stereo system and a very well appointed kitchen (seriously sized cooking pots). Row boat, trampoline and kayaks were enjoyed. The owner and the local agent provided detailed briefing and were genuinely concerned to ensure a perfect stay. The only negative was the bathrooms - two isn't really enough for the number of beds offered - this would be fine if the house isn't at msximum capacity. However, all these other comments - both good and bad - are minor compared to the location - the timber deck to eat on, the lawn to play on and the uninterrupted beach view and access made it very special. (The walk to Russell is a nice length too.) We had bad (unseasonal) weather and were forced to limit our planned sailing trips etc but would go again and stay at Tapeka del Mar without question.

“A Magical Stay and Gobsmacking Views” This is a super base to explore the Bay of Islands; it was a real find and it's on our list of very special stays in New Zealand. From the moment we walked in we were looked after like best friends. It's so roomy, comfortable and every last detail has been thought through to deliver superlative self catering. It's the opposite of contemporary modern minimalist - instead cosy and characterful with excellent facilities, a lovely holiday space to be in. Perched on the side of Tapeka point, it has the most beautiful views of the glittering islands of the area, a fantastic beach that's just 2 minutes walk from the villa, and for those just wanting to laze and graze a cosy sunlounge that has some of the best views of the Bay of Islands. We loved it, Maureen and Ron have that knack of adding all the little touches and giving a very personal insight on all that's special in the area. Delightful.
