“Nice house” My wife, our just turned 1 son and I stayed at the Scallywag over Memorial Day weekend (plus some). We really enjoyed the house.
1) It was incredibly nice to have the highchair, babygate, and crib provided in the house. It meant we didn't have to drag these things with us from home and squeeze them into the car. There was even a baby carrier backpack there that we used multiple times when we hiked the beach.
2) Nice accommodations. My wife and I like to stay in vacation rentals when we travel. This is one of the nicer places we have stayed (possibly the nicest). Comfortable furniture (sounds silly, but we only rent from places that have at least two couches in the living room so that after a long day we can both have a place to "lounge"). The beds were comfortable with nice sheets, the bathrooms were clean and everything worked. The kitchen was awesome and had the things we needed (there was a barbeque that we didn't get around to using, too). Having NetFlix plus cable gave us plenty of options, and the games/foosball table came in handy when it rained (which it did).
3) Pretty good location. It was just a short walk down to the beach. You can hear the ocean from the house. The other direction gave us mountain views and forest. Rockaway Beach itself is a neat little town. They run a cool train (Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad), have a huge souvenir shop (Flamingo Jim's), a super long stretch of unbroken beach (we hiked both directions from the house...once to the North Jetty and once to downtown Rockaway), some good restaurants (highly recommend Upper Crust for pizza and Dos Rocas for Mexican food), and the town itself is close to alot of other coastal sights and activities.
We will definitely be back later in the summer. Thank you for a great vacation.
