The Barn at The Old Bakery was originally one of the oldest cottages in the pretty Derbyshire Dales village of Youlgreave, within Derbyshire's Peak District National Park. The Barn is accessed from a courtyard, where there is a private parking space, and has charming views of the spectacular countryside.

Inside the property, the comfortable spacious lounge area has two sofas, and an easy chair. In the newly fitted kitchen there is an induction hob and an electric fan oven, together with a microwave, fridge and washing machine. All the utensils and crockery are provided. For indoor dining there is a table and four chairs. For your entertainment there is a large TV with freeview and an extensive DVD collection is available for guests use. A light and airy dual aspect bedroom at the opposite end of the property boasts a king sized double bed and a Velux window through which you can fall asleep watching the starry night sky. The bedroom and lounge are joined by a hallway with plenty of storage space for your belongings. The bathroom with bath and overhead shower leads off the hallway. The Barn is centrally heated throughout, making it warm and cosy even if the weather outside is cold. The property has a private balcony where you can sit and enjoy a glass of something refreshing and watch the world go by on those sunny afternoons and evenings. There is free secure parking next to the cottage.

The Barn is a fabulous place to use as your base for a walking holiday, (simple walking guides are provided), in the Peak District or for cycling or sight seeing across the whole wondrous area that makes up the unique White Peak.

There are three village pubs in Youlgrave, all serving good quality home cooked meals. The Village Shop sells everything you might need or have forgotten to bring with you! The village Post Office, also doubles as a grocery store and newsagent. Peak Feast specialises in home baked cakes and vegetarian savory meals. The popular tourist town of Bakewell with its famous pudding and tarts is just three miles away. An hourly bus service runs from the village to Bakewell, from which there are further buses to Sheffield, Chesterfield, Buxton, Castleton and Chatsworth House.

The town of Matlock, which offers fantastic sight seeing via the Heights of Abraham's cable car, is 8 miles away.

Chatsworth House is within walking distance as is Haddon Hall. Both are well worth a visit.

The majority of local sights can be seen on foot. There is an hourly Bus service to Bakewell. From here you can catch further buses to Chatsworth House and Sheffield, and to Matlock. There is a Train service at Matlock, which enables links to anywhere in the country.

Our second visit to 'The Barn' & it didn't disappoint! Comfortable surroundings & very helpful owners. Great place for walking, either from the front door or nearby.

A very well equipped, cosy & spotlessly clean 'barn'. Great location for walks from the front door. Butchers, grocers & village pubs close by. Nice touch was wine, tea, coffee, milk & shortbread on arrival. Helpful owners & loads of local information in the barn to plan your day. Just wish we could have stayed longer!

Stayed here for my birthday weekend Cannot recommend this converted barn highly enough. It is superb as a base for walking in the local area and it had everything you wished for regards a supply of books DVDs suggested walks and even a map. We ate in the Farmyard Inn recommended by Ken on Saturday night and enjoyed it so much we returned on Sunday night again ! We will definitely be re-booking for a longer stay PS.Thanks for the wine it was very much appreciated

Very clean and tidy apartment with the best of fittings and everything you could want for a good holiday. It was warm and comfortable and the owners even provided tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and wine for our arrival. We would recommend this to anybody. Excellent. Chris and Elaine Steer.

The Barn@The Old Bakery is an ideal location to explore The Peak District! We are so glad we found this little gem in the picturesque village of Youlgrave. We stayed Monday to Friday but it wasn't long enough, we were lucky with the weather, it was just right for walking. The barn is very welcoming and spotlessly clean, and is a great base for many walks. Ken and Carol are very friendly and are close by if you have any problems. The biscuits and the wine were a lovely treat. It is a very friendly village as well

The barn @ the old bakery is a lovely cosy little flat. It was immaculatly clean and extremely well equiped. We found everything we could have wanted and more. The flat is well situated in the heart of the village where there are great local amenities too. It was wonderful to have beautiful walks right from the front door and we enjoyed recovering in the village pubs after a full day walking. The produce from the butchers just next door made for lovely dinners and picnic lunches too. Ken and Carol provided us with lots of useful information both prior to our arrival and left available in the flat. They also gave us a much appreciated very warm welcome. We're already trying to work out when we can go back! A big thank you to Ken and Carol.

We enjoyed a delightful 3 days at the Barn. Ken and Carol have thought of everything - the apartment is beautifully decorated, well equipped and very comfortable. Though the owners live nearby, and so are on hand for advice or help, we had complete privacy. Youlgreave sits in lovely peaceful countryside with endless walking (and getting lost) opportunities. It lies roughly between the two very attractive towns of Matlock and Bakewell. Both of these places are worth visiting and we heartily recommend Stone's restaurant in Matlock (probably wise to book ahead) for an evening meal. Also with visiting is nearby Haddon Hall which has lovely gardens. Three days was really not enough time to enjoy all that the area has to offer but was a wonderful taster. We have no hesitation in recommending the Barn and would love to visit again.

Really enjoyed our stay at The Barn @ The Old Bakery . The Barn is equipped really well with everything you could need for your holiday and is a perfectly furnished. Ken and Carol also thoughtfully provide some really lovely extras like a pint of milk with tea, coffee and shortbread biscuits for that much appreciated drink on arrival and then for later on a chilled bottle of wine. When you want to venture further afield there is all the information and maps to point you on your way and Ken and Carol are more than happy to help with ideas. Our visit was far to short so we still have a lot to explore on our return visits but can recommend Chatsworth to fully appreciate everything you need to spend at least a day there, we also visited Buxton and Bakewell. We had our Sunday lunch at The Farmyard but do book your table early as it gets busy. we are looking forward to visiting again soon.
