Description

New Walk Coach House offers you a peaceful and independent base from which to explore York. You are 10 minutes' walk from the city centre in a quiet, leafy residential area by the riverside. The apartment is a converted Victorian coach house adjoining a larger house (if you watched 'Dark Angel' on TV, you may recognise it). There are lovely views from the apartment and a pleasant, enclosed courtyard with a table, seats and outdoor lighting. Free, safe parking and easy walking or bus routes mean you can forget the car and enjoy the city's many attractions. We want your self-catering holiday to provide comfort and style as well as the freedom to come and go as you wish. The apartment is well-furnished, well-equipped and maintained to a high standard. Beds are comfortable, there are plenty of towels and the sheets are freshly-ironed!There's a wall-mounted TV with freeview and DVD, and BT Infinity Wireless Broadband. The pack of basic groceries we provide is selected to give your self-catering holiday an enjoyably easy start. Specialist food shops and restaurants lie close at hand. New Walk Coach House makes a perfect base for one or two couples wanting to make the most of a city break or to explore North Yorkshire. It's also family friendly, with an extra sofabed in the living room, a travel cot and high chair, games and books, not to mention nearby parks, riverbank fishing and cycle routes.

Getting around

Guests enjoy the peaceful riverside walk into the heart of the city (10 minutes). In the opposite direction you can walk to the racecourse (1 mile) and open country. Concert-goers and snooker fans find us a handy base for the Barbican, 5 minutes walk away. The city walls are 5 minutes away and provide a circular walk with great views, and an interesting route to the supermarkets. There are local stores within 5 minutes. Bus no 7 passes the end of the road. It takes you through the city to the railway station, or out of town to the Designer Outlet.

Interaction with guest

You can be completely independent or have on-the-spot friendly support - it's up to you. Let us know your individual requirements in advance and we will, for example, set up a twin bed arrangement in the upstairs bedroom, leave extra linen for a guest using the sofabed, or put out the baby equipment. You can arrive as late as you like: the keys can be collected from a safe box on the gate, using a code we will send you. Parking permits, plenty of local information, and a welcome pack are left inside the apartment, and you can call or text us if you have any questions. On the other hand, we live very close by and are delighted to say hello if you like.

Good location, just outside the city walls, and a 10-minute walk along the river to the centre. Accommodation lovely and clean, owner and caretaker friendly and helpful.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind comments. We’re glad you found the location worked well for visiting the city, and it’s nice to have the housework noticed! Thank you for being such responsible guests.

“Excellent apartment and perfect location”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2018

The apartment is furnished to a high standard (especially the beds) and is very cleverly organised. We had everything we needed and Sue was very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect; lots of restaurants within 5/10 mins walk, river walk into town is a lovely way to start the day. Would be happy to recommend to family and friends.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your comments, and for being such lovely guests!

“York quick visit”

Reviewed 31 Oct 2017

York is lovely, interesting city with friendly local people. The accommodation is well situated to walk into town and not too far from uni which was the focus of our visit. Quiet apartment, clean spacious with welcome goodies included. A selection of books, DVDs and games including chess set up on table was a winner for us. Expensive for what it is but was enjoyable stay

Owner's reply: Thanks Doris!

“Magical coach house”

Booked the coach house for a girlie weekend.you parked straight outside the property and don't need your car at all everything was in walking distance. Sue the owner was very helpful, the welcome pack gave a very nice touch. The accommodation is well equipped for your stay. I am sure if you needed any information on anything related to your stay the owner would only be to happy to help. We well definitely be returning to this lovely little gem.

“A wonderful stay!”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2016

We enjoyed a lovely mini break with our 3 small boys in this very comfortable coach house. York was stunning and provided everything we were hoping for and more. The special thing about this coach house is its location, just 10 minutes stroll along an idyllic stretch of river to the centre with all its culture and interest. We could not have asked more from Sue and Roger. Just sad we did not get to meet them in person...this time!

Owner's reply: We're very glad you enjoyed your time in York, and found it easy to make your way along the riverside walk into the city centre. Thanks for going to the trouble of writing these kind notes - and we hope to meet you next time!

“Excellent stay!”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2013

My partner and I stayed here with another couple for a weekend as attending a wedding in near pay Naburn. We couldn't have asked for a friendlier welcome to the New Walk Coach House. Upon arrival we were greeted by Sue who talked us through everything and showed us around. The apartment has all you'll need for a stay and is in a ideal location, only a 10 minute walk into York centre along the river. There is no doubt that we will be back again.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind comments and I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay. Sue

“Excellent Location with friendly and accommodating owners”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2013

New Walk Coach house was the perfect location to visit York. Peaceful and quiet, seconds from the River Ouse and only a 10min walk (along the river) for visiting the city center and attractions. The accommodation was ideal for a family of 4 or 5, everything you needed for a base and the apartment was very secure. We would all love to go back in warmer weather!

“Great Location Good for Teenagers and Shopping Very Comfortable”

Reviewed 31 Oct 2012

The arrival arrangements were spot on and the start up food pack was welcome. The parking was not a problem and we always got a space after being out. We went to Flamingo Land which is quite close but the weather wasn't the best. The accommodation was perfect for the two girls with them having their own room on the same floor as the lounge which meant they could stay up longer watching telly. The Internet signal was a bit hit or miss and I feel needs to be better for the youth of today. We ate out most nights except for the last one where we had a carry out from the Chinese at the top of the road which was first class. We had excellent communications from the owner and was well impressed with the flat. If we were to return to York we would definitely try and book the Coach House. If you are in doubt about booking don't be it's definitely a good accommodation of good standard in a good location .
