Chelsea Cottage is situated in the picturesque conservation village of Kirk Yetholm, near Kelso in the Scottish Borders. The village lies in the valley of the Bowmont Water in beautiful scenery at the foot of the Cheviot Hills. Kirk Yetholm was famous as a centre for smuggling and was the home of the long departed Yetholm Gypsies. It is an excellent base for walking, lying at the end of the Penine Way and on St Cuthbert's Way.
This charming terraced cottage provides a comfortable, well-equipped base for exploring the surrounding countryside. Renovated to enhance the character of this traditional cottage, you will find everything you need to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing. There is a wide selection of books, DVDs and games as well as an ipod docking station. Information on local area including maps, walks and nearby attractions.
There is sheltered patio area with garden furniture. Steps lead up to a small, secluded garden backing onto Staerough Hill, part of the “Halterburn

Whether you enjoy walking, golfing, fishing, horse riding, cycling or just visiting one of the local pubs for a quiet pint, you will be impressed by the friendly hospitality that awaits you in the twin villages of Kirk Yetholm and Town Yetholm. Chelsea Cottage is situated in the picturesque conservation village of Kirk Yetholm, near Kelso in the Scottish Borders. The village lies in the valley of the Bowmont Water in beautiful scenery at the foot of the Cheviot Hills.

Yetholm

Kirk Yetholm lies at the end of the Pennine way, and is one of the stopping points for St Cuthbert;s Way. In the village, at the far side of the village green from Chelsea Cottage is a historic coaching inn (The Border Hotel) that provides good quality bar or restaurant meals. Both children and dogs are welcomed here. In Town Yetholm, there is a pub, village shop, post office, award-winning butcher and garage, less than one-mile walk away from the cottage.
The closest town is Kelso, ~ 7 miles away. This charming old market town has many interesting sites to explore, including the Abbey, Floors Castle and a variety of shops. There is a range of eating places here as well as a swimming pool and the famous Kelso Racecourse The town lies on the banks of the River Tweed with excellent trout and salmon fishing. Fishing permits can be obtained from Tweedside Tackle, in Kelso where you can also hire rods and equipment.
There are many golf courses in the area for all levels of ability, including the Roxburgh. Horse riding or cycle hire can be arranged.
Most of the border towns are less than 45 minutes' drive away, with Abbeys, museums and shops to explore in Jedburgh, Melrose, Galashiels and Coldstream. The Northumberland town of Wooler is 13 miles to the east, and Berwick-upon-Tweed and Holy Island make a superb day's outing. The village is ~ an hour from either Edinburgh or Newcastle

“A lovely welcoming cottage, in a beautiful village”

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was just what we needed, and a welocme basket on our arrival made a lovely introduction to the weeks break.
