Description from owner

Description

Sandy Shores is our most recent acquisition and only went on the rental market in June 2016 after we gave it an extensive make-over to the same high standard as our other 2 successful chalets Ocean Decks ID 6939595 and Wight Waves ID 6927154, all with 5 star reviews. Sandy Shores is a south-facing end chalet, right next door to our chalet Ocean Decks, and is situated in a peaceful location, with views across the Downs to the rear, with grassed areas front and rear. Our coastal path gate gives direct access to the short stroll to the 5 miles of safe, sandy beaches of Sandown Bay and all local amenities. It is a perfect haven for families and couples to relax and enjoy the sunniest island in the UK, adjacent to the National Trust Bembridge Down and Island coastal walk with spectacular views of Culver Cliff and across the stunning Sandown Bay. It is close to miles of cycle routes and walking pathways where you can see Island birds, butterflies and wildlife including our native red squirrels.

Location description from owner

The England region

There's plenty to do on the Isle of Wight all year round, with a wide variety of events and attractions to keep the whole family entertained.

The Island's landscape and beaches make the perfect backdrop for outdoor activities. Whether you're out walking the 500 miles of public footpaths or taking advantage of the many cycle routes, you'll be able to take in the clean, fresh air, bright days and beautiful sunsets.

There's plenty of choice when it comes to shopping due to the artistic heritage of the Island, with handcrafted jewellery to sculptured glass and wood carvings. Whatever the weather, you can always enjoy fantastic locally produced food and drink served at restaurants and farm shops across the Island.

Yaverland

Yaverland - this magnificent bay is characterised by the craggy cliffs and clean, crisp waters. Quieter than the other beaches between Sandown and Shanklin, Yaverland offers safe swimming and fossil hunting by the cliffs. There is the famous Tiger Zoo, and the Dinosaur Isle museum just a short stroll away, plus a sailing club, and a variety of water sports. Yaverland is within the Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Sandown Bay encompasses a wide variety of important marine habitats and coastal features and is designated as part of the South Wight Maritime Special Area of Conservation. It has particular geological interest to the north and the cliffs around the Bay are designated as a Site of importance for Nature Conservation for their plans, mosses and liverworts and interesting geological features.

Sandown Beach is one of the Isle of Wight's finest and most recognised beaches, with miles of soft golden sands crowned by Sandown's pleasure pier. Popular with tourists and surfers, Sandown is a traditional 'bucket and spade' holiday beach with all that you expect from an English family beach.

Sandown's esplanade has traditional seaside cafés, souvenir and beach shops, whilst the pier has amusements galore, including a crazy golf course. The beach has several outlets to hire deckchairs, sun loungers and windbreaks for you to set up camp on the beach and you can get takeaway teas and coffees and eat hot chips with salt and vinegar whilst you sit on the beach.

The main seafront has plenty of parking, and traditional hotels, some with palm-filled gardens and some with decked areas with wonderful view of the beach, and there are some nightclub style bars.

Running parallel behind the beachfront is the High Street that has a selection of arty and tourist style shops along with supermarkets, pubs, cafes, restaurants, cash machines and bank.

“Lovely chalet on a good site.”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2016

Excellent accommodation with everything provided for a stress free holiday on a site that's very convenient for getting about the island, buses stop just past the entrance to the site when you want to take a break from driving. The owners were very helpful when asking for information or advice, nothing was too much trouble for them, very good! Would certainly recommend this chalet.

Owner's reply: We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Sandy Shores and that you had everything you needed. We love the location too. It is on the bus route so handy for drivers and non-drivers alike. Thank you very much for your recommendation. Kind regards, Gillian
