Location description from owner

The England region

Just 2 hours from London by rail or road, with good motorway links to the Midlands, the ‘Garden Isle’ is easily accessible and well served by ferries, yet a relaxing ‘green’ destination for holidays and short breaks. At 23 miles long and 13 miles wide, the sea and spectacular Heritage coastline is never far.

An unrivalled network of footpaths gives access to unspoilt countryside – over is half designated as Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its mild climate makes it an ideal destination outside the summer months, when it enjoys a deserved reputation for family holidays.

Sites such as Brading Roman villa, Carisbrooke Castle, royal Osborne House, historic little Yarmouth and charming villages across the Island, offer glimpses of a favoured lifestyle through the ages.
Today the Isle of Wight offers relaxation and fine food in peaceful surroundings. There are outdoor opportunities for walkers, cyclists and water sport enthusiasts, - and award-winning music festivals. From the Downs which traverse the Island, views of farmland and villages, woodland and coast offer panoramas of the best of England in miniature.

Yarmouth

Yarmouth is located on the western side of the Island at the mouth of the Yar estuary. The historic little town has grown as a result of its natural harbour, guarded by Yarmouth Castle, built by Henry VIII in 1547 The harbour attracts international yachts and motor cruisers, whose crews take advantage of the moorings to enjoy the lively range of shops, and places to eat and drink in the town. Wightlink Ferries dock here from Lymington, after a crossing of just under half an hour.

The picturesque narrow streets and town square are lined by flower decked shops and pubs; restaurants range from Michelin star quality through family-friendly pubs to cafes with outside tables for celebrating fine weather late into the evening, many meals having an emphasis on local produce and freshly caught fish.

“Fantastic facilities for whole family on beautiful island”

Reviewed 9 Nov 2016

The facilities for my mum who has limited mobility were great which made the stay so much easier for all of us. Walk in shower and easy access throughout the house with no silly little steps to work around. Warm and inviting. Large, safe garden for young children to play in too meant I could enjoy a glass of prosecco on a sunny October evening. Islanders really inviting with loads of great things to do no matter the weather. All within easy access of Orchard Lee.

Owner's reply: Good to hear that the level entry and access throughout Orchard Lee led to a warm, relaxing stay for your extended family! Glad you enjoyed the glass of Prosecco on the verandah while the children enjoyed the garden. Hope to see you again!

“Brilliant”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2016

This bungalow was very spacious, very ideal for big families. Young kids enjoyed the big area to run around. Very clean, and layout was perfect.

Owner's reply: We're so pleased that the 3 generations of this family enjoyed the airy living space of Orchard Lee, and were able to play games and spread out in the field which goes with the house. We look forward to seeing them again.

“All 14 of us said we wanted to come back...”

Reviewed 12 Feb 2013

Rented Orchard Lee and Tudor Lee for my sister's hen party, and really could not have asked for more. There was ample space for 10 in Orchard Lee and 4 in Tudor Lee. Both of them were very clean and tidy. One thing to mention was that as it was raining it was slightly muddy on the paths leading from Orchard to Tudor Lee. The set up of Orchard Lee is fantastic for large groups with four separate bedrooms and one long room running the length of the cottage. We separated the areas into a dining room, a kitchen and a lounge with ease and it suited our purpose perfectly. Tudor Lee is very cute and homely. It has a real old cottage feel, but with nice modern facilities (great shower and kitchen). Jill and Steve genuinely could not have done more to have been hospitable and welcoming. They truly went above and beyond to ensure that everything ran smoothly. All 14 said that we wanted to go back with friends/families.
