Location description from owner

The England region

The Isle of Wight region

Two hours South of London, lying just off the coast of Southern England is the beautiful Isle of Wight, with a warmer than average climate, it's not surprising it's been a favourite holiday destination for generations.

Your holiday starts on the ferry, there are a choice of routes, with vehicle ferries from Portsmouth, Southampton and Lymington, the latter taking 35 minutes to bring you straight to Yarmouth.

Once you are on The Island there are many attractions inside and out; over 500 miles of footpaths, stunning scenery, secluded sandy beaches and brilliant attractions, including the historic Carisbrooke Castle, Osbourne House, Zoo and Botanical Gardens to name but a few. We recommend Robin Hill for adventure fun in a wholesome style for children of all ages.

Yarmouth

The Yarmouth, Isle of Wight area

The wonderful seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and is home to a busy harbour, an array of shops and inns, and Henry VIII's castle, which you can walk around and discover the recreated rooms of the 16th century.

The West wight is an area of outstanding natural beauty and has coastal paths which are a haven for walkers and cyclists, plus walks can also be enjoyed across to the nearby Tennyson Down, which makes Yarmouth an ideal base as its close to Freshwater Bay and Alum bay with its famous coloured cliffs.

“Great holiday cottage”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2013

The Dairy was very well presented, extremely clean and very comfortable for our family with two young children. It is very well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. We especially loved the hot tub, even in the rain! The cottage is in a quiet lane and we found the location perfect for exploring the island. Kristina made us feel very welcome and we thought the welcome basket of fresh farm produce was a lovely touch. We would absolutely recommend the Dairy and hope to return again in the future.

“An idyllic setting”

We stayed for a long weekend and were thoroughly delighted by every aspect of our stay. Our hosts were friendly and accommodating; the venue pristine and comfortable and we cannot wait to go back. Highly recommended!

“Lovely location, great holiday let”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2013

Lovely converted barn in the middle of the Isle of Wight countryside. Owners very friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. Great location for Freshwater beach and Yarmouth town, away from the 'busy' towns of Shanklin and Newport. The barn itself is converted to a high standard, with a 42-inch TV and a kingsize bed, which was better than the little portable TVs and double beds I had come across when looking for a holiday rental. The barn is child-friendly and a cot and high chair was provided. The only small criticisms I can make were the locks on the doors were a bit stiff but ok once you got the hang of them. The welcome pack was a nice touch with everything you could need for breakfast (tea bags, milk, bread, eggs) but if it had included butter then it would have saved us a trip into town the night we arrived. Also we found a trail of ants in our bedroom on the second night but my husband filled in a hole in the external wall and we had no trouble after that. More our bad luck than anything else! A great stay that I'd definitely recommend.
