Location description from owner

The England region

The Isle of Wight regionTwo hours South of London, lying just off the coast of Southern England is the beautiful Isle of Wight, with a warmer than average climate, it's not surprising it's been a favourite holiday destination for generations.Your holiday starts on the ferry, there are a choice of routes, with vehicle ferries from Portsmouth, Southampton and Lymington, the latter taking 35 minutes to bring you straight to Yarmouth.Once you are on The Island there are many attractions inside and out; over 500 miles of footpaths, stunning scenery, secluded sandy beaches and brilliant attractions, including the historic Carisbrooke Castle, Osbourne House, Zoo and Botanical Gardens to name but a few. We recommend Robin Hill for adventure fun in a wholesome style for children of all ages.

Yarmouth

The Yarmouth, Isle of Wight areaThe wonderful seaside town of Yarmouth is the oldest town on the Isle of Wight, and is home to a busy harbour, an array of shops and inns, and Henry VIII's castle, which you can walk around and discover the recreated rooms of the 16th century. The West wight is an area of outstanding natural beauty and has coastal paths which are a haven for walkers and cyclists, plus walks can also be enjoyed across to the nearby Tennyson Down, which makes Yarmouth an ideal base as its close to Freshwater Bay and Alum bay with its famous coloured cliffs.

“High quality, beautifully appointed holiday barn in a peaceful location.”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2013

The barn is in great location which leaves you close to any of the islands attractions or towns. It is beautifully appointed throughout with the bonus of a hot tub in the shared courtyard. Nick and Kristina were lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome. We were greeted at the barn, given a familiarisation tour and left with a fantastic gift hamper containing lovely local produce to ease us into the holiday mood. Great hosts, great property, great holiday.....nothing more to say ;0)

“Amazing, comfortable cottage in beautiful location”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2013

From the lovely welcome to "The Old Barn" right through our whole weeks stay we had nothing bad to say. The cottage was amazing, beautifully finished and spotless within. The hot tub was a lovely added extra which my teenage daughter adored spending time in day & night. Everything you could possibly need on a week away was in the property, even DVDs and a few games to play which was a nice touch. I even managed to read a book from cover to cover from the cottages bookshelves, haven't done that in years! Great location with some nice towns and beaches within a short drive. If you want a nice family break in a superb cottage then this is the one for you, would highy recommend.

“WOWIE, what a gem!”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2013

We stayed in this lovely converted barn for a number of nights and it is oh so comfortable. The owners are truly honest, well hearted, hard working and mostly welcoming people who where very prompt in organising our stay. The barn is large, offering both spaces for all to run around in as well as cosy spaces to relax and spend time with loved ones. The attached outside area is a lovely and quite space, open planned and houses a spar for all to share. The barn is still very new, clean, well lit with all kinds of nifty lighting solutions as well as heating systems for those cold winter escapes. The bed rooms are well equipped and the beds sleep better than our own and may have been the solution for our bad backs. The barn is located on a lovely part of the island (not that the other side of the island is out of reach, max 30min away), it’s a great location not too far from the needles and cute local townships such as Yarmouth a small walk or drive away. There is plenty to do on the island itself, and if you’ve just come to relax, this is a great place to do just that. We truly enjoyed the stay and would recommend anyone who is are keen to contact the owners, it’s an absolute gem! Many thanks for a truely lovely stay.

“Exceeded all our expectations”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2013

A lovely property - stylish, yet comfortable and well very equipped. The garden & courtyard is perfect for lazy afternoon/evening BBQs and lounging in the hot tub! Nick and Kristina were the perfect hosts, even supplying a welcome hamper. Great location.

“What a find!”

Reviewed 9 May 2013

Absolutely a stunning find, this recently converted Barn really had everything we could need including a Jacuzzi in the garden! On arrival we found a hamper to cater for our initial needs including a very nice bottle of wine and although our hosts Nick & Kristina were on hand just in case we needed anything, we were left to enjoy our stay and the beautifully presented accommodation. We would definitely recommend your own transport here as although the Barn is set in a very nice rural location ideal for long walks in the countryside, the nearest main town (Yarmouth) is still a 10 minute drive away. Overall, we couldn't have been made more welcome and definitely will be returning!
