Description from manager

The property is situated in a very safe area, with no evidence of 'risks' or other changes over the past year or so, that may otherwise distract from a lovely holiday. Restaurants are all open, and are all very keen to provide a good service. Construction of new roads, holiday homes, and shops are in full swing in many areas.

Yalikavak is a busy residential area, with supermarkets, and a marina, and holiday amenities too. Locals frequent cafes, shops and restuarants all year round, so that even out of season (April 2017), there is plenty of activity.

The villa is situated in an amazing place!! (Please see reviews, they describe the holiday home and location well). Built in 2007, this is a villa like property on 2 floors with all 3 bedrooms overlooking sea, and the Greek islands. You can hear the waves at night! This property is semi detached yet highly exclusive. Known as a 'Cardea' duplex, this has a very high satisfaction rating. Lovely homely

This property is semi detached yet highly exclusive. Known as a 'Cardea' duplex, this has a very high satisfaction rating. Lovely homely feel. Many guests enjoy being 'in' as much as being out. The Bodrum peninsula has a good holiday atmosphere. There are a lot of properties around Bodrum, but few in this league. Enjoy breakfast on the terrace or small private lawn. 50m away is a relaxing sheltered swimming pool overlooking the Aegean Sea. Aside from the main season, you can walk about 500m to the sandy beach below with friendly restaurant in idyllic location. (At peak times, mainly July/Aug use of beach sunbeds etc may be restricted, however the restaurant beach area should be free for all to use, but access may require a beach pass, which we can provide). Yalikavak is the main resort 5km by car or Dolmus bus, with a marina, and a comprehensive array of individual shops. Open all year as popular with locals. 20 minutes further you can enjoy the delights of Bodrum town. Or explore the Peninsula - there is so much to see!! This property has broad appeal and has been enjoyed by guests from Scandinavia, Belgium, Holland, Bulgaria, Turkey, Australia, Ireland and the UK. Please note there is a charge of £80 for each booking if less than £395, capped at £395. This covers our agent’s costs of preparation, cleaning, admin, and for being available if need be. This may be added to the rental cost automatically when trying to book. The price to pay may include £150 refundable deposit, so the actual price could be a lot less!

Location description from manager

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

Something for everyone here - sandy beaches to the south, and south west, ancient history, sailing and yachting, golf not so far away, and restaurants on the beach. Sunny right through to November, ideal Autumn holiday. Mini buses (Domus), take you everywhere. But car hire is excellent way of seeing the peninsula. Fantastic hypermarkets too, with everything!

The Bodrum Peninsula - Aegean coast

On the Bodrum Peninsula buildings are not permitted to be built more than 2 stories high, and there are no buildings higher than 3 stories in the whole Peninsula. This tends to make the area look particularly attractive. Most of the buildings are white washed cubes, similar to those in the Greek Islands. This is because this part of Turkey used to belong to Greece and some of the Greek Islands used to belong to Turkey. As you can imagine, there is a lot of history around the area.

As well as Bodrum, there are some really picturesque areas to visit around the peninsula with some stunning sunsets!

Bodrum town itself is huge in terms of shops and restaurants and night life. Ideal for visiting whereas Yalikavak is ideal to be staying - so peaceful after a day or night on Bodrum!

Yalikavak is fast becoming a popular tourist destination with its authentic villages and high class international marina. Yalikavak is ideal for people who want the facilities of a bigger resort but not the non stop night-life.

Yalikavak is one of the greenest locations on the Bodrum peninsula and nature has been generous in terms of granting it an amazing sea and coastline, together with an endless breeze that cools this unique place even during the hottest of summer days.

Windmills are one of the symbols of Yalikavak. When you arrive at the location where the windmills stand you will be greeted with an enchanting panorama as far as the eye can see. Above all when the sun sets over Yalikavak it's the perfect time to enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants that line the harbour and sea front of Yalikavak.

It's enough to take just a short tour around Yalikavak to realise that it's the best of all round destination of the Bodrum peninsula and well deserves the title.......

"A JEWEL IN THE HEART OF THE AEGEAN" Lots more about Yalikavak - a preferred alternative to Bodrum?

Yalikavak, 18 km away from Bodrum centre on the north western tip of the Bodrum Peninsula, has grown in size over recent years, but remains still very much a place where the locals welcome holiday makers with open arms. The permanent inhabitants of Yalikavak number around 6,800 people.

Yalikavak is becoming ever more popular as an alternative resort to Bodrum. The small harbour is surrounded by restaurants and bars, and while there is the occasional disco bar, the general atmosphere is quiet, unhurried and relaxed, yet further along the shoreline is a new sophisticated Marina.

Approaching Yalikavak from Bodrum you cannot help but notice the stunning panoramic view of Yalikavak Bay. This fertile coastal region is ideal for sailing and all water sports and attracts many foreign yachts to the Marina and old harbour that once sheltered mainly fishing boats.Yalikavak is a vibrant harbour town at the northern end of Bodrum Peninsula. It has a beach, a Thursday market and enough cafes and restaurants to satisfy locals and holidaymakers alike. There are a number of supermarkets where you can shop for those essentials for your Turkey property. A restored 300 year old windmill sits in the middle of a pedestrian area of cobbled streets.

Yalikavak is ideal for those who want the facilities of the big resorts without the non-stop nightlife. A number of restaurants line the harbour front. The area is renowned for its superb sunsets which you can enjoy from the terrace of your villa along with stunning Aegean Sea views. This development is just 200 metres from a golden sandy beach and close to the town centre; this Turkey property has great rental potential.

Yalikavak has a very good local transport system and is just 17km from Bodrum town. The local mini-bus (dolmus) ride from Yalikavak to Bodrum is to be recommended for the spectacular views en-route. Bodrum is the site of the Halicarnassus Mausoleum. You can see St Peter's Castle and experience the lively town centre with its array of shops, restaurants and sophisticated nightlife. You can take one of the many boat trips from the harbour including those to the Greek Island of Kos.

The recently built Yalikavak Marina has brought new visitors to the town, in particular yachting enthusiasts. There is also a new golf facility in Bodrum, Vita Park Golf. There is a currently a great deal of investment in the area making this an ideal time to buy property in Bodrum.

Fishing & Seafood
Yalikavak still supports a thriving fishing industry and the restaurants around the picturesque harbour display a wide selection of fresh fish every day. The town is known for its excellent seafood restaurants - try Sait, you won't be disappointed.

Yalikavak has a huge selection of restaurants to suit all tastes.

Shopping & Market
There are many shops in the traffic free centre, selling local wares and tourist items.
Every Thursday there is a colourful weekly market split in 2 halves. Clothes, textiles and traditional Turkish wares on one side, and the other with fruit, vegetables, great choices of olives, herbs and spices.

Just a few minutes walk along the shoreline from the centre of Yalikvak is the new Marina. The Marina is home to many large yachts and is visited by yachts from all over the world in summer. It has stylish shops and several restaurants and cafes, plus a seaside 2,500 seater Amphitheatre used for open air concerts and fashion shows during the summer months.

The main beach in Yalikavak is long and narrow and lined with a few restaurants. It is easy to sit back and not worry where your next drink or meal will come from! Yalikavak's beach is never busy and you won't be sandwhiched in amongst sun loungers. Away from the harbour end of town, the quieter the beach becomes. Yalikavak is always said to be a little cooler in the summer than other parts of the region due to the gentle offshore breezes. Whereas Bodrum is hot, in all respects, in summer.

Yalikavak is renowned for its superb sunsets and unspoilt shoreline. Its sparkling clean sea is one of the few remaining abodes of the endangered “Monachus Monachus” Mediterranean seals and therefore a protected area. In 2002 Yalikavak Bay was awarded the "Blue Flag" for its clean waters

Interaction with guest

As owners, we are available to call, text or email throughout your stay, and prior to arrival too. We have a local agent, a lovely person who originally came from Holland. We have dealt with her for several years, and has an office in Yalikavak. I am sure she would be more than happy to discuss places to visit, things to do etc (as we are too). We have a keysafe, so guests can arrive anytime, and just take out the key that will be waiting for them. Unlike a hotel, there is no need to be concerned about anyone coming in at random times to clean etc. This would be on request only to ensure your complete privacy.

“Amazing Experience”

Reviewed 18 Dec 2016

Having been to Yalikavak before I thought I knew where we were going to be staying. It was further out than my mind had told me, but this caused us no issues at all what so ever. I arrived with 3 of the children to stay for 2 weeks before my husband and eldest joined us for a further week. To be a woman alone here, caused us no problems, I felt safe, well looked after and happy. The Villa is great, helped by a second bathroom. My only negative observation, was having to use all three bedrooms, I took the downstairs bedroom as the protector- it was made up of two singles pushed together- it didn't ruin my holiday or put me off returning, I just would of preferred the double to be downstairs. The view is simply stunning, a short hilly walk takes you to the private beach, made up of locals and limited English people- gorgeous. I don't like the Brit abroad experience of English and beer everywhere- if that's what you are looking for this is not the location for you. I do not drive whilst in Turkey, I use the local Dolmus- easy, easy, easy. It stops every even hour outside the complex and every odd hour just up the road- it takes you in to the main town, you can easily hop over to another Dolmus to get to other locations- fairly priced, regular simple. It gives the kids another dimension to their holiday too. I would advise taking a photo of the front of the bus to remind you which one you need for your first few goes though! Back to the ~Villa, it was spacious clean and really nicely kept. The area is as said simply stunning so peaceful, view to die for. I made use of the washing machine and washing line as our stay was so long- I felt at home and would of happily stayed for the whole summer. Nothing not to like about the Villa, the area etc. A lot of negative views on holidaying somewhere like Turkey, but Yalikavak is so quiet and peaceful everybody is friendly and helpful, the town is not full of shops- Bodrum for that, which is a short Dolmus away. We did it a few times and had wonderful days out, but were happy to return to the peace of our villa. Our favourite hangout in the day if not at the local beach or pool was in Yalikavak at the surf shack, where the boys enjoyed paddle boarding, really chilled out atmosphere, they even got to be part of their promotional video. The local beach has a restaurant which is great for food and cheap. Plenty of local supermarkets - get a discount card on your first day it saves you loads. The Marina in Yalikavak is 'the St Tropez of Turkey', loads of mega yachts down there, allegedly famous peoples too- whatever its a visual experience, and some very expensive shops too. Walk along to the old town and that's where you find the within budget locations, surf shack, Dedes and the Secret garden- two of our favourite restaurants. All in all one of my best holidays ever and would without hesitation return to both Turkey and this Villa in particular.

Thank you so much for taking the time to submit a most interesting and informative review, especially at this busy time of year! It was great to hear you had a wonderful holiday, and good to hear how easy the Dolmus busses were, and you felt at home. This despite the negative press about Turkey. This reflects our own experience of being there recently, and we had no reason to be concerned with any security issues. Actually feels safer than being in an EU city! I liken this to a journalist going to Bodrum to report on such negative events - it would be a long wait to be involved in such events, and that is even if he/she tried to be in the 'right' place at the 'right' time! Thanks again for your review and for your booking. You would be most welcome another time. We can rearrange the beds too.

“Complete get away peace, quiet and beautiful views to wake up to”

Had one great week away with husband, older children and couple of friends six in total. Went for a total rest and getaway and thats just what we got, never been to Turkey before and for our first visit couldn't have picked a more perfect place and location. Felt rested and well fed all week, great food and beautiful marina in Yalikavak would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a lovely holiday. Please try the Turkish Breakfast at the little restaurant just on the sharp bend back down the hill called Zeytin Alti friendly staff and fresh produce 10/10. Also try Husband and Wife team in a little Restaurant called Paprika, Ahmet and his wife make the most lovely Monk Fish and great wine, atmosphere. Also Cardakli 10/10 these are based in the marina .All I can say is book and see for yourself Yalikavak superb holiday Wish I was still there !!!!!

“A great place to stay!”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2012

The stunning view as we arrived was spectacular, and as we explored the property we found clean, excellent facilities. The bed was extremely comfortable, and made up for our arrival. We chose not to hire a car ( and as long as you are fit to climb the rather steep hill! ) the local Dolmus provided excellent transport. However a car would be an asset! As the week went on the ever-changing beautiful view never lost its appeal with its changing colours (gorgeous sunsets) and boats to watch. The owner was especially helpful, and even confirmed after we had finished our holiday that he had dealt with one or two minor problems we had, so they would be sorted ready for new arrivals!

“As close to perfect as you can get...........”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2011

Well where do I start..... The property is fabulous and has everything you could possibly want, far outweighed our expectations from a holiday home, the uninterrupted sea views and sunsets spectacular. Every time we went out we wanted to get back to our balcony or the pool which also overlooked the sea. The beds were very comfortable, everything spotlessly clean and the owners are lovely genuine couple who do everything possible to make the stay perfect, they certainly went the extra mile, and can't wait to return to either this property in yalikavak, bodrum or one of their other properties

“Well equipped property in tranquil setting with amazing views”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2011

Spent 8 days here September 2011. The views from the terrace are almost addictive - we had to tear ourselves away some days, and then when we did we found ourselves longing to get back! Property location is at the end of the development in a private and tranquil setting but totally secure. Shared pool was quiet on most days. The owner was really helpful to us with directions, organising car hire etc. And when we had a couple of minor issues whilst there he responded immediately

“Superb location with stunning views”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2011

Property in excellent condition with everything required to have a great holiday. Balcony overlooking the ocean with sun the latter part of the day. Owners very helpful and efficient and the onsite representative extremely friendly and helpful too. Choice of beach (walk down steep hill) with bar and restaurant or pool. Pool quiet and relaxing. 10 minute bus to Yalikavak and 15 bus to Gumusluk. Buses come regularly and they are cheap. Good if you don't wish to hire a car. All in all, great place, great location and would thoroughly recommend.
