“A beautiful Family Villa”
Stayed with Wife, Inlaws and 2 Kids (7 and 12) in the L-Ghorfa Villa. It was perfect for us. It's a 2 minute drive from the main Square which has about 7 great restaurants. 5 Minutes from Ramla Bay. The property was clean, well equipped, with good A/C and no power cuts or trip-outs! It's a very grand property, especially the entrance halls and stairway. All bedrooms are big, as is the kitchen and lounge. Pool area was great, and the dividing wall was an absolute bonus in offering much needed shade over the pool and upper patio area for part of the day. Ample outside seating/tables etc. Lovely view of the sea. Very friendly and helpful owners. The airport transfers were first class, it was totally stress free. We take a villa holiday to Europe every year, and I highly recommend both the Villa & the island of Gozo for a very memorable holiday.
Owner's reply: Dear Guest. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I am very pleased to hear that you had a nice stay at our villa. Our aim is to provide a truly unique experience to our guests. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
A wonderful family holiday with three generations in an authentic and well equipped Gozotan farmhouse with lovely pool and great views of the coast. A local restaurant with excellent food and very drinkable home made red wine two minutes walk away and a ten minute stroll to the village square with its food shops, daily fish van, church and restaurants. We hired a jeep for the week through Pauline - which was the ideal vehicle to drive around Gozo. When we took the ferry to Malta to visit Valletta we used the very efficient, and air/conditioned, local buses. Pauline and Mario live close by so available and helpful if any issues. What a great holiday!!
Owner's reply: Thank you for leaving such lovely comments. We’re glad that you enjoyed your holiday and will look forward to seeing you again”. Regards Pauline
“Fabulous and exceeded all expectations !”
This was our first villa holiday and what an absolutely stunning property we had the pleasure of living in for a week. A massive house, beautifully renovated to very high standard. Our family of 5 adults just loved the place and the private pool. Very peaceful surroundings and just a few minutes walk to excellent supermarket, bakery and village square where there are several great restaurants. The owners Pauline and Mario live next door and were friendly and most helpful when we had any queries and also rented us a jeep for the week. The airport transfers were extremely efficient in both directions and made the journey very easy. I would highly recommend anyone to rent this gorgeous villa - it's even more stunning than the pictures suggest !
Owner's reply: "Dear Rosemary, Thank you for taking the time to write a review! We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your accommodation. Our aim is to provide a truly unique holiday and we are thrilled that we were able to exceed your expectations. We look forward to welcoming you back to our villas in the future. Sincerely, Pauline Spiteri"
“Amazing villa in beautiful location”
The villa was everything we expected and more. We were a group of 6 adults and we had more than enough space. The villa was bright with beautiful large rooms and we especially enjoyed the terrace and pool area for relaxing and dinner in the evenings. The villa is walking distance from Xaghra square with some lovely restaurants, where we had some great meals and drinks. Pauline and Mario were fantastic hosts assisting us with everything and the transfer to/from the airport made for a stress free holiday. Bozo is a beautiful island with stunning views in all directions. You can see most things by local bus but if you want to see more and also go to Malta I would recommend hiring a car.
The farmhouse is located near Xaghara centre which means access to shops and restaurants. It was a shame that while we were there the main square was under construction. It is also a short drive away from a lovely sandy beach. The farmhouse was well equipped. The kids loved the space, there is definitely ample room for two families. It is made of stone so is cool, which I can imagine is a relief in the hotter months. For us the noise carried quite a bit which was a little tricky trying not wake up the small children. The outside space and pool area were a real delight. We spent many happy hours out here. The kitchen was also well equipped and we were able to prepare good meals. Bedding was limited. There were no mattress covers provided and the sheets had a plastic underlay. That could be improved. Overall we had a great trip and came home feeling thoroughly relaxed. I would recommend this farmhouse if you are planning to stay on Gozo.
“Fantastic villa, lovely island, friendly owners”
There were ten of us - 6 adults, 3 children and 1 baby. Large really nice villa and very helpful and friendly owners. Large kitchen with large dining table and all white goods e.g. fridge/freezer, washing machine etc. Good size pool with loungers and lovely views over the countryside. It was very hot during our stay so we were thankful for the air conditioning particularly at night. You pay extra for this and obtain the pay cards from the owners. We thought it was good value costing roughly 10 euros per night for all five bedrooms. The village is quite close - perhaps 15 minute stroll with plenty of restaurants and mini markets, We also did major shops at the large supermarkets in Victoria or on the way to Victoria. Would recommend you use the owners car hire service on the island and they will also collect you from the airport and take you to the villa (via the ferry) and return. We are hoping to return again in the future as we had a fantastic holiday!
“No title could do justice...”
No title could do justice to the experience of staying here. Pauline was a great host; helpful, on hand when needed yet unintrusive. She gave local recommendations when asked for and was a breeze to communicate and organise with. It is hard to appreciate a good host until one experiences to the contrary, but we were in very good hands from start to finish. The farmhouse itself is beautiful, quite classically decorated and the rooms are well-appointed. If you're reading this then I'm guessing you want to know whether or not you want to stay here. Here are some things which may help. Highlights (for us): - the gas BBQ & grill on the patio - the incredible view, including sunrise from the balcony. - the location is so peaceful but so connected for when you want (see below). No disturbances. - within hazy-stumbling distance of Xaghra Square (honestly 7, straight-line minutes), Ramla Bay (20) and some really old ancient things (10). - air conditioning - spacious, not just in sleeping capacity but also in living areas i.e. kitchen and living room. It can entertain as many as it can sleep. - Gozo transport is incredibly cheap, efficient and good quality. - the local community are warm, good-humoured and friendly. Some things to be prepared for: - mosquitos will have a go, unless the farmhouse is since equipped with nets, guards or working deterrents. - that's about it. In case it's helpful - we're in our mid-twenties. We saw mostly older families/friends here (and not overrun with tourists in May/June). We found Gozo & Malta neither too quiet nor too hectic, and with plenty of room for either extreme if you so desire. Take a good book for the poolside and go clubbing in La Grotta on Friday night/morning. Gozo is beautiful. You should go. Just leave room for us.
“Fantastic Holiday - Perfect Villa”
We stayed in Gozo at the end of May/beginning of June. We were a party of 4 adults and a 4 year old child. The owners of the villa, Pauline & Mario, made us feel very welcome, and were always on hand if needed. The transport, arranged by Pauline, from the airport to the villa was faultless. The villa itself was beautiful, Very spacious inside, and perfect for large parties and very well equiped. The pool was a big hit with our daughter, who was the first one in every morning at 7:30. We hired a car for a few days & visited Malta. We also purchased a weeks bus ticket (€6.50 per adult), which gave us unlimited travel around Gozo. The village itself is quiet, but has a few restaurants anfd supermarkets. We had lunch a few times in the cafe/patisserie in the square by the church. Very good value & delicious cakes. We used the Lighthouse supermarket, the fruit & veg market stall & the Aldi by Victoria. For dinner, the best restaurant to visit is Tal Furnar. The food is delicious. We went a few times, and there were so many tasty things on the menu. The owners were very friendly, and we loved chatting with them. Portions are massive. If it is a relaxing break that you are looking for, then Gozo is perfect.
“Wonderful week of relaxation”
From the start of the booking process to the end of our trip, our experience with Pauline and Mario at Is-Setah was outstanding. Pauline was very responsive to initial inquiries and helpful in answering any questions we had about the property. Just to give an example: when we arrived in Malta, our flight was delayed, and we ended up missing the intended ferry. Mario stayed at the ferry terminal in Gozo personally to make sure we ended up at the right place, even though it was after 1:00 am on Easter Sunday. They were also very helpful when we needed them during the week, as they live quite close to the rental property. The villa itself is very spacious. The common room is large, and with the open-plan stone staircase, feels gigantic - not to mention the great views of the valley out to the sea. The kitchen was well-equipped, although a few more wine glasses would have been appreciated. The entire house was immaculately clean upon our arrival. The terrace area and the pool were wonderful spaces to relax and enjoy the view, and the barbecue grill provided a lot of entertainment. The pool area is especially beautiful at night: very well-lit and warm. The plants were well cared-for. The bedrooms and bathrooms had very high quality furnishings (beds made of real wood, stone bathrooms - this is not IKEA furniture). The architectural details of the house (especially upstairs) really made the place interesting - arches and balconies, a large staircase, the entryway - and we appreciated the attention to detail. The village of Xaghra is really an ideal base from which to visit Gozo. It's minutes away from Victoria, but it feels isolated enough to be "away from it all." The Xaghra village square is within walking distance of this villa, and we thought the restaurants on the square made it worth several return trips. That being said, although it's not strictly necessary, I would recommend a car rental, since nearly any place on the entire island will be accessible to you within 20 minutes. It was hard to leave at the end of the week! Thanks, Pauline and Mario!
We booked the two adjacent villas from Paulina and Mario so that family and friends could all be together for our daughter's wedding. The accommodation was of the highest quality with a glorious patio area and pool for BBQ's and swimming. Perfectly located for the best beach (Ramla) in Gozo and ideal for the ferry to Comino's Blue Lagoon and Malta. Gozo is far more sedate than Malta and all the more beautiful for it with great seaside locations such as Marselforn and Xlendi, which have excellent sea food restaurants. The inland sea and Azure window is also worth a visit. We did kayaking, scuba and snorkling. The people are very friendly and Paulina and Mario were superb hosts, even giving the bride and groom a card, bottle of fizz and local garland to hang on the door...the villas and the people definitely made the wedding break the great success it was and we will definitely go back as well as recommend them to anyone else contemplating a trip to Gozo....wonderful.Thank You Paulina & Mario.
