Location description from owner

The Island of Gozo region

The island of Gozo lies in the Mediterranean about 100 km away from the south coast of Sicily. Throughout its ever changing history, it has been influenced by the most diverse peoples and cultures; the islands of Malta and Gozo have developed their own unmistakable character. Gozo has its stillness for those who look to escape from the hustle and bustle, and has a slow pulse to its inhabitants. Xaghra boasts the Ggantija temple, documented as the oldest free-standing structure in the world. The strategic position of the Islands with its large natural harbour was an open invitation to many seeking to conquer. Through its violent history, the people have kept a good heart and humour.

Xaghra

Gozo offers an endless array of water sports; be it, swimming, para-sailing, scubadiving, windsurfing, waterskiing, or maybe a relaxing boat tour. For those who like walking, Gozo is full of terraced valleys landscaped with rubble walls leading to cliffscapes or beaches. Maybe a nice walk through the villages, stopping at a cafe along the way is just the thing. With a selection of sand and rock beaches to everyone's tastes, it wont take long to find your favourite. Celebrate the festas with the local people and enjoy a night of festivity with music and fireworks. Experience Phoenician glassblowing, the prehistoric temples and Mediterranean cuisines. Explore the history of the islands under the chivalrous religious order know as the Knights of Saint John. Enjoy the Jazz Festivals, the Wine Festivals, and other cultural events.
