“Cute and Quaint”
A lovely little find and very much in keeping with the tradition of the Gozitan farmhouse. The best has to be the wonderful pool and garden area making for relaxation day or evening and allows you to reflect and take in the ambience of Gozo. The bells chiming also adds, making it a somewhat tranquil haven a pure charm and reflection of the people who reside within the island. The new garden furniture ( recently on order) will give the whole area an uplift, as will the planned patio doors allowing light into the kitchen/lounge area and will make a nice feature to the patio for ease and entertaining. Just down the hill from the Square - you will find restaurants and bars bustling with friendly happy people. The local Ta'Mena wine is divine and the varied restaurants provide something for all manner of tastes. The little annexe is comfortable but requires a fridge and has a shower room which is in the process of being brought up to modern day standards/ comforts which will then complement the main farmhouse.
“Lovely converted farmhouse with private pool and separate annex, within 5 minutes walk of centre of Xaghra”
Excellent accommodation in interesting town. Just avoid the week we went, which coincided with their annual festival on Sept 8th. For a period of 4-5 days, the place was rammed with people and cars, all restaurants were closed and converted into bars and fast-food stalls, there were cannons and fireworks going off all day from 8:00 in the morning until late in the evening. And when we drove to Marsalforn to get away from it and find a restaurant someone parked in our driveway and we had to park outside the town!
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your helpful review. I am glad that you found the farmhouse to your expectations and hope very much it gave you some solace from the feast activities. The feast of 8 September is the biggest on Gozo and the last one of the season and so I can imagine how busy and vibrant it became. It's not for everyone though to be fair and I shall take your feedback on board and update my details on the Holiday Lettings website so that future guests can make an educated choice on this week. I hope it didn't upset your stay too much and hope to see you again next year. Ginette.
“Rest and relaxation”
After 8 weeks of very busy travelling it was lovely to be able to stay in a self contained farmhouse, where you could cook for yourself, swim in a pool without the rest of the hotel or cruise ship watching and relax in front of a TV or read a book. The facilities offered at Razetta Ta' Marija offered all of this and more. From a private courtyard to a spacious afternoon shaded pool area. The farmhouse was clean and tidy and offered a good cooking facilities. It was close to the village centre and the local bus which we used daily. The information folders gave us plenty of options on how to spend our days sightseeing or availability of attractions in the village of Xahgra. The buses have recently changed their timetables so check the timetable attached to the bus stop to avoid waiting for buses that didn't come. Overall Razzeta Ta' Marija offfered us the rest and relaxation we needed before our long flight home to Australia.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely review and I'm so glad you had such a wonderful stay at Razzett Ta' Marija. It is true that the farmhouse has everything you need, it's an ideal place for R&R. It is good advice regarding the bus time-tables as they do change seasonally. In addition to the time-tables at the stops you can also take the most recent time-table from the bus office, which is located at the main bus terminus in Victoria. I hope your trip back to Australia went well.
“Wonderful vacation on Gozo”
We have just come home after a wonderful week on the beautiful island of Gozo. WE were a group of 7 people staying at Razzett ta Marija and I was a little worried about the space being an issue, but we were surprised about how spacious the farmhouse really was. Plenty of room for everybody. We spent a lot of time in the courtyard, enjoying the pool and the sunshine. Gozo is a wonderful little island, much more relaxed than Malta and we are happy we chose stay on Gozo. Many thanks to Ginette for all the help, it made our arrival on Malta much easier.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your kind review and I was delighted that you had such a wonderful time at Razzett Ta' Marija. It is true that the farmhouse is more spacious than appearances suggest and there's plenty of space for everyone to be together and to find your own quiet space also. It sleeps 7 easily and yet is also cosy enough to welcome couples and small families. The private rear deck area is very spacious and sunny and is a great place to sit and chat, read or play in the heated pool. I was really glad to hear you had such a relaxing time on Gozo and enjoyed the tranquility that Razzett Ta' Marija can provide. I hope to see you next year. Ginette.
“A peacefull place in a magic island”
Ginette's rental is really nice, in the walls of several centuries, we were welcomed in the best comfort. Full kitchen, perfect for cooking Mediterranean food, a refreshing swimming pool with sun beds to rest, a barbecue for excellent local fish and even the Playstation ... What's more for relaxing with family? Ginette and her friends were full of knowledgeable and quick tips to help in case of difficulty. The island of Gozo is really wonderful and we could have stayed longer as its charm is captivating! Maybe 7 years as Ulysses! We will return soon.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your helpful review. The outdoor area is indeed wonderful for relaxing, swimming, cooking and eating - the perfect combination for a holiday on the beautiful island of Gozo. We were glad to be there to help you with your queries throughout your stay to ensure you had the best experience of what Razzett Ta' Marija and Xaghra can offer the holiday maker. Love to see you all again in the future. Ginette
“Great location for relaxing or exploring, lovely Gozitan farmhouse”
I’ve just returned from a week on Gozo with a group of friends (five in total) at this lovely farmhouse in Xaghra. It was large enough to give us space to be apart, yet also to eat together at either the kitchen or patio tables; the kitchen has been very recently refurbished to a very high standard, and includes a dishwasher to save time on mundane chores. The area around the pool is spacious, with high quality loungers, umbrellas, sofa, coffee and dining tables, plus a barbecue: the pool itself was a little on the chilly side for me after one of the regular cleanings, as it’s fed from an underground well and that water is cold… but it was only May and it quickly warmed up a few degrees in the continuous sunshine we enjoyed. The bedrooms & bathrooms are well equipped and all window have mosquito screens. It is perfectly situated to use as a centre to explore the island, which at roughly 8.5 miles by 4.5 miles is entirely walkable if you enjoy that sort of thing – the nearest beach, at Ramla, is only about an hour on foot at a relaxed pace. It is only a few minutes’ walk from the main square, and a selection of reasonably-priced restaurants with excellent food – I’d personally recommend Oleander on the square (especially their daily fresh fish), and the nearby Xi-Xi Chinese restaurant. There are also handy food shops, including a very nice bakery & sandwich shop (Stephen’s) and a nearby mini-supermarket. Car rental is not really necessary, as the bus service (which includes an open-top hop-on, hop-off bus touring the island) is regular & comfortable. But if you’re minded to explore wonderful locations such as Mdina, the Mosta Dome or Mellieha on Malta itself, then a car may be handy – Brits will be pleased to know that the Maltese drive on the left! The owners, Ginette & Barry, have very helpfully provided a folder containing useful information, including a history of the farmhouse itself, and specific features to look out for. It was remarkably easy to book the farmhouse online, and Ginette was very helpful in responding swiftly to emails and also providing information on bus & ferry times to assist with our journeys to & from the airport. An excellent holiday and I look forward to a return trip.
Owner's reply: I was so glad to hear that you and your friends had such a good time at the farmhouse. I guess the pool would be just a little chilly at the start of May, so well done for getting in! The farmhouse is deceptively spacious and yet still cosy and characterful at the same time. The large rear deck area with plentiful seating and dining is certainly one of the farmhouse's delights. We hope to see you again soon. Ginette
