Based in Worthing, 147 By The Sea is a recently refurbished seafront property that captures the style and elegance normally reserved for a boutique hotel but with the warmth and welcoming feel of a comfortable home.

When you stay at 147 By The Sea we hope you will the enjoy the extra attention to detail and homely touches that we have thoughtfully placed throughout this beautiful ground floor self catering apartment. We hope these details will enhance your stay and help create your perfect weekend break, midweek stay or seaside holiday.

The light and bright fully equipped kitchen means that any time spent cooking or preparing food during your stay should be a pleasure, not a chore! Coffee lovers can start the day with a Nespresso or a cafetiere of freshly ground coffee made at the tea and coffee workstation, whilst tea drinkers can choose from a traditional or exotic blend. The kitchen also includes a integrated fridge freezer, microwave, a full size dishwasher and a washer dryer. The utensil and equipment list is extensive; as well as all the usual utensils you would expect to find there is also a sandwich maker, a smoothie maker, a spiralizer, a hand blender, a vegetable steamer and a juicer.

This spacious ground floor apartment has 2 bedrooms and sleeps up to 4 people. The main bedroom has a large ensuite bath and shower room. The second bedroom has a shower room and toilet just off the hallway. Both bedrooms have fantastic sea views. The main bedroom has a Kingsize bed with a top of the range Tempur Memory foam mattress and 100% cotton bed linen. There is a wall mounted 40" Smart TV so you can watch TV, films or access the internet from the comfort of your bed. There is a large wardrobe, chest of drawers and a dressing table. Other features include a Bose docking station so you can enjoy listening to your own music, a hairdryer and an alarm clock. There is a USB charging port plug socket and wall mounted lights with movable reading lights. This bedroom has a luxurious large ensuite bath and shower room.

Bedroom 2 has superb quality Spink & Edgar 3ft single beds that can be seamlessly joined together to create a superking bed on request. This room has a wall mounted TV with a built in DVD player. The cleverly built in storage window seat allows you to sit and take in the sea views but conceals a treasure trove of toys, books and dressing up clothes to keep little ones amused and entertained for hours. It has a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a dressing table. This room also has a docking station, alarm clock hair dryer and a USB charging port plug socket.

If you are travelling with little ones we have tried to give you an opportunity to pack and travel with less baby equipment but feel secure in the knowledge that you will hopefully find most things you will need whilst on holiday with your young family. We can provide a full list of what is available and we are happy to send photos to you before you travel so you can decide if the items on offer are suitable.

When we say "By The Sea" - we mean it!! Worthing Beach is seconds away from the property. Fishermen regularly pitch up immediately opposite with their catch of the day; their fishing boats are tethered on the shingle creating a colourful reminder of their frequent sailing trips.

Worthing town centre with it's many and varied shops, bars and restaurants is just a short stroll away. On the way in to town there are 2 parks, the recently built Splashpoint leisure centre, an outdoor table tennis and an outdoor gymnasium to keep you busy or to help you work up an appetite. The popular and vibrant Coast cafe is less than 5 minutes walk away where you will also find artists studios, a childrens' playground and outdoor fountains where the children can play on a sunny day! A few minutes further and you will find the newly opened Crab Shack where you can stop off for food and refreshments. Entertainment lovers can watch a variety of theatre shows, concerts, plays, comics and pantomimes at The Pavillion Theatre on the Pier or at The Connaught Theatre in Town. There are also 2 cinema's to choose from - The Dome is a stunning renovated Art Deco cinema with a Tea Room attached or you can watch the latest releases (& 3D films) at The Ritz cinema. If you walk along the beach away from Town and towards Lancing you will reach The Perch - a glorious cafe, bar and restaurant sitting directly on the beach serving great food and delivering amazing views!

Getting around

There is a local bus that goes from Lancing to Brighton (via Shoreham), you can travel by bus to Worthing and Littlehampton (and the towns in between!) for full details the timetables are on line (stagecoach). There is also a National Express coach station in Worthing that can take to places all around the county and beyond. The nearest train station is about 1.5 miles from 147. it is easy to travel from here in to London or you can go to Portsmouth to the fabulous Gunwharf Quays Designer Outlet shopping centre - it only takes about 1 hour 15minutes and takes you directly into the shopping centre. The same train also goes to Arundel and Chichester both great places that are definitely worth visiting.

Interaction with guest

I always try to meet guests on arrival so I have an opportunity to introduce myself, to give a brief tour of the house and garden, to offer some advice about the local area and to answer any questions or queries. After this initial contact, I give the guests time & space on their own to enjoy their stay at 147 BTS and allow guests to familiarise themselves with the house & local areas at their leisure and to fulfil their plans for their holiday, which often involves seeing friends and family that live locally or taking time to explore all the wonderful things that the South Coast has to offer. During the guest's stay I am available at any time by phone or email to help in any way I can & to be on hand, if required, to deal with any issues.

House rules

No hen or stag parties. No other parties. Please be considerate of neighbours when waking up early or coming in late. Arrival is from 3pm. Departure is before 10am. Later departure can sometimes be arranged if requested and agreed in advance.
This family friendly holiday letting has many toys, games, fancy dress clothes, books and puzzles for children to play with during their stay - we ask that these reman at the property and are all packed neatly away when you leave.

“Such a comfortable apartment”

We simply loved this apartment - spacious, extremely light, and airy (important to let that lovely cool sea breeze in during that hot weather!) - and simply everything you thought of was there for you, and a few things you did not think you needed until you found them! Lots of little surprises, many of them tucked into the Coffee Bar in the kitchen. We were all seen to disappear off there secretly for another little nibble... I needed a bit of help sourcing a housewarming present when I was there, and the owner, Vicki, was great with many recommendations, even offering to purchase something for me while she would in town. That goes well over and above what you expect, thank you Vicki! The beds were extremely comfortable, and we felt very much at home. My only one suggestion would be to put up some net curtains in the bedrooms - passers by did have a lovely view if you were quickly changing! The walk into town was easy - flat and about 10 minutes. Loved the walk along the beach out of town, with the authentic fishing boats pulled up on the sand - made some really lovely photos. We would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment.

The apartment definitely has the wow factor! It is immaculately presented, beautifully furnished and has everything you could want for a wonderful stay (it even has things you didn't know you wanted until you've stayed here!). The location is perfect for exploring Worthing and the beautiful neighbouring Goring-by-Sea and Shoreham. On arrival we were greeted by Vicki and Adam who gave us some really useful tips on the local area and places to visit during our stay, very welcoming. We will definitely book again.

Party of 4 stayed for 3 nights had a wonderful stay The owner was very helpful and accommodating. The photos on the web site looked great but did not do the property justice. Highly recommended would definitely stay again

How do damage deposits work?
