Description from owner

A superbly presented and well modernised fisherman's cottage built in 1850. This town centred property is truly a home from home and is tucked away in a quiet conservation area Cul-de-Sac, just west of the main pedestrian shopping area of the town centre and a few yards from the sea front. Worthing's mainline railway station is approximately ½ mile to the north.

This is a charming stable-door cottage which is deceptively spacious. It features an open plan ground floor lounge and dining room, fully modernised and well equipped kitchen, large stylish bathroom and 2 good sized bedrooms. There is a log burner in the lounge and cast iron radiators in all rooms. We have furnished the cottage to give it a 'shabby' chic coastal theme. The master bedroom has a great vintage king sized brass bed, bought in New York from the Brooklyn Brass Bed Company and it has a new divan and memory foam mattress on it. The bedroom also has Virgin TV and a 22" screen television. Ample storage for a holiday stay is provided by way of a wardrobe/ armoire and chest of drawers and we have tried to keep a feeling of age by buying these from Brighton's antique shops. The second smaller sized bedroom, which, to maximize space, we have put a Laura Ashley day bed which has a second bed below . This can easily be pulled out to accommodate two people sleeping in the room. There is also a luxury travel cot available to use if you have a baby in the family. We can leave this out for assembly if requested.

The lounge area has 2 sofas and arm chair and there is also a dining area with a table with seating for 4 people -ideal for entertaining. There is also a quality high-chair so you will not have to bring your own. The main lounge area has a 32 inch tv/dvd, Virgin satellite system and there is also wireless Wi-Fi installed. There is a good selection of games, magazines, books, dvds and even a doll's house/shop for children to play with. The modern well equipped kitchen has an electric fan range oven with a gas hob, grill, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine. We have ensured that there are ample good quality cooking and dining utensils for you to use should you wish to dine in.The outside area can be used for off street parking or, if you prefer, you can purchase a weekly parking permit from us, close the gates and sit outside with a cup of tea or glass of wine! 1. Dogs must be under strict control at all times while on the property. You should not assume that the courtyard is 'escape-proof' for dogs

2. Any fouling must be cleared up without delay.

3. The owner must bring the dog's bed or basket for it to sleep in.

4. Dogs may not be left alone in the property.

5. Dogs may not lie on beds or chairs, and hair must be cleared up before your departure. Guide dogs are very welcome but please call us first to give us all the relevant information so that we can leave out a special treat for this hardworking member of the family!

“Peaceful, convenient and lovely cottage”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2016

Calling as we arrived in Worthing we were met at the cottage by Anne and Carole who welcomed us and showed us around. We were looking forward to staying in this lovely Victorian cottage and it didn't disappoint. Essential toiletries were supplied along with quality towels. Beds were very comfortable. The cottage itself is well located for both the centre of Worthing and the seafront. Totally recommended.

Thank you for this wonderful review and we do hope you will all come back again soon. Anna

Thanks pat Thoroughly enjoyed meeting you both. Anna

“Home from home at Christmas”

Reviewed 29 Dec 2015

Fisherman's Cottage, Worthing is a little gem. We arrived on the 23rd December to a warm welcome from one of the owners who showed us round. We were immediately struck by the care and attention to detail that had gone into the downstairs rooms: fully equipped modern kitchen; very comfortable lounge and dining area with TV and Wii (and the most amazing bouncy carpet!) and, which was a lovely touch, a Christmas tree. The welcome pack in the kitchen - milk in the fridge, biscuits, drinks , cereals ( and 3 chocolate santas) - another nice touch. We immediately felt at home. The two bedrooms and bathroom (I've never seen so many toiletries in one bathroom!) were also beautifully decorated and comfortable. One thing we missed - there are no mirrors in the bedrooms. The visitors book showed that everyone who has stayed there since 2011 shared our opinion - now, that is impressive. Location is great - Western Row is a quiet street with easy access to shops, restaurants and the sea front. Another plus for the cottage - you can park in the courtyard - now, in Worthing, that is a definite bonus. We loved our stay in Fisherman's Cottage and will definitely think about another visit.

Thank you so much for the great review. I take on board the mirror problem. I took it down when the TV went into the bedroom and put it by the wardrobe then promptly forgot it. 2016 will a mirror going back on the wall. Hope to see you again. Carole

“Superb cottage in a fantastic location”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2015

Fisherman's Cottage is a super property situated just a stone throw's away from the beach at Worthing, the shops in the main street and access to other beachside locations. The cottage was clean, comfortable, relaxing and had everything you could possibly need. It was home from home. So nice to have more than four plates, mugs bowls etc!! - the kitchen is very well catered for. The bathroom was a dream and the beds very comfortable. So handy to have the space at the rear of the property for parking - the streets around can be very busy. Anna and Carole very kindly brought a parking permit with them on our arrival so again, no worries. A super welcome pack of goodies and essentials was provided, including milk - so the kettle could go on as soon as we arrived - lovely. Would certainly recommend a stay at Fisherman's Cottage. Excellent quality and we would definitely stay there again.

Fabulous guests in every way. We look forward to welcoming them back.

From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. Not only does the cottage have everything you'd wish for in a holiday home it is also beautifully decorated and the bathroom decor is modern yet elegant. The only downside is that you'll never want to leave fishermans cottage!

Super guests in every respect and we look forward to welcoming them again.

“Comfortable, cosy cottage in a great location”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2014

Fishermans Cottage was a lovely surprise. A warm welcome from the owner. Welcome pack was a very nice touch - even a fresh pineapple! The kitchen was very well equipped although we dined out most evenings at the great choice of restaurants within walking distance in the town. In fact we didn't use the car at all. The lounge has very comfy sofas and a cosy woodburner. The main bedroom is lovely and it was great to have a large bathroom with separate shower. Would definitely like to stay again.

Lovely guests in every way. Our cottage was left spotless and they were so appreciative of the amenities and welcome basket.

“We will be back, our stay at the cottage was everything we wanted it to be.”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2014

Anna And Carole helped our stay get off to a great start by graciously offering to pick us up from the train station. The cottage isn't far but our arrival had been delayed and we were new to the area so this little touch was much appreciated. When we got to the cottage it was even better than we expected- downstairs living area much bigger than I thought it would be, all rooms very well decorated, homely, comfortable, and with everything you would ever need. There was a lovely welcome basket of goodies for our first breakfast- my daughter loved the coissants and fresh figs, and after a long journey it was good to have milk at hand for a cup of tea. We had the cottage for 4 days as we were attending a family wedding which was held on the Pier. - The cottage was very central for this and the many other amenities you want when you are visiting. We couldn't have picked a better location for our visit - we wanted a 'home from home' and that is exactly what we got. Thank you Anna and Carole- we will be back!

One of the joys of running a holiday cottage is meeting lovely new guests. Super people and lovely guests.

“a cosy and comfortable cottage in a very central position.”

We were very impressed both with the cottage itself and by the welcome we received on our arrival. Although we had previously lived in Worthing for many years we had know idea that these charming old cottages were there. We really enjoyed our time at fishermen's cottage and would certainly stay there again.

It was great to meet such charming guests, who we hope to welcome again in the future.

“Perfect retreat”

Reviewed 27 Feb 2014

This is a gorgeous cottage, spacious yet cosy, period yet with all mod cons. From the luscious, deep pile carpet to the very impressive brass bedstead it is furnished with care and taste. The new kitchen had everything we could wish for, including a beautiful, large oven. The slate bathroom is simply stunning. It is incredibly close to the sea and the town centre, everything is on your doorstep. It is in a quiet no through road so no traffic. All in all it was one of the best places I have ever stayed and the owners are lovely, warm, considerate people.

Thank you so much for your review. You were perfect guests and we hope you will stay again in the future.

“Stunning fisherman's cottage with all the trimmings”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2013

Beautiful cottage in a great location just behind the seafront. Everything was laid out perfectly and the owners couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. Beautiful (and really comfortable) bed in the main bedroom and great bathroom and perfectly equipped and arranged kitchen. 10/10

Guests who treat your cottage with the care that they would give their own home are a blessing. These are guests that we would always welcome back as they were enthusiastic and respectful. Many thanks for staying with us.
