Location description from owner

The England region

The north of Dorset is dominated by a plain, known as the Blackmore Vale. As in Hardy's day its chief agricultural pursuit is dairying, which has preserved a landscape on intimate scale - often tiny fields defined by ancient hedgerows and winding lanes. There has been no great pressure here for the removal of hedges and hedgerow trees which has been so damaging in other parts of the country. In summer this is a lush pastoral landscape and the visitor can spend days wandering in the maze of small roads, footpaths and bridleways.

The property is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty nestling under Bulbarrow Hill the second highest point in Dorset.

The village of Woolland has a ewe tree in the church grave yard which is mention in the doomsday book.

“It was a fantastic stay, in an absolutely perfect location!!!”

Reviewed 30 Mar 2013

Our stay at The Victorian Barn at the beginning of march was just fantastic. I was blown away by what i viewed on the website and just how incredible this location appeared, but it was more than this when we arrived. Just beautiful and perfect for group getaways, family holidays/breaks and potential wedding locations. I booked this weekend as a suprise for my partners birthday along with eight other guests and a further four visiting us. Penny was brilliant, catered to all our needs and everything was so simple. Thoroughly recommend for anybody wanting to get away in the UK and just relax and enjoy a comfortable and pleasant stay. The barns are fabulous!!! Extremely modern and well looked after, everything was immaculate and clean. Could't of asked for a better service. Will definitely be back again in the very near future!!!

Thank you for your kind comments and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay in Beatrice House at the beginning of March to celebrate your partner's "surprise" birthday. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Regards Penny and Claire
