Location description from owner

The England region

Located approximately 3 Miles from the wonderful beach of Woolacombe Bay, probably the best surfing beach in the UK . There are plenty of activities to keep the most adventurous family amused. With the Gulf Stream keeping sea temperatures comfortable you will find everyone enjoying the surf all year round.

Woolacombe

Just a few miles inland is the vast Exmoor National Park with unrivalled beauty if its a stiff coastal walk along the cliff paths or a ramble over the moors, as long as you always follow it with a Pub Lunch. Lynton & Lynmouth is worth a visit to explore this Victorian favourite. Walk along the river from Watersmeet and take teh clif top railway, powered by water & gravity. The harbour at Ilfracombe is worth a visit with its Victorian sea front and boat trips to Lundy or perhaps a half day fishing. It also boasts the exclusive restaurant owned by the famous artist Damion Hirst. His statue called VERITY stands majestically looking our to sea. She depicts a pregnant woman holding aloft a sword while carrying the scales of justice and standing on a pile of law books. Half of the sculpture shows the internal anatomy of the pregnant woman, with the unborn baby clearly visible. There are also all weather attractions at Watermouth Castle, The Big Sheep or The Milky Way. With exhibitions, talks or adventure play areas its a great day out.We enjoy cycling along the Tarka Trail, a flat cycle way following the route of the old steam railway.Further afield you could visit the historic village of Clovelly or even tip into Cornwall at Bude.

“Charming and comfy with character”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2016

Had a great time, stayed over christmas period with hubby and daughter. Had guests to stay a couple days in extra bedroom. Front room with fire was amazing. Lovely kitchen, useful utility room. Comfy beds and nice modern second bathroom. Great huge roll top bath.

“Great North Devon holiday”

Reviewed 2 Dec 2014

Cottage was very comfortable, appointed to a very high standard. It had the feel of a family home, rather than a holiday let.It was also spotlessly clean. It is well situated to visit local attractions or just lazing on the beach.,The coast line is stunning,.Exmoor or Dartmoor are within easy driving distance. Our favourite walk was over the cliffs from Putsborough to Croyde & our favourite beach ,Putsborough. We plan another visit next year, when we will hire bikes to cycle along the Tarka Trail, ( flat,t& traffic free)

“great location, lovely cottage - would definitely recommend to others!”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2014

As a family we have been to North Devon a few times in recent years and love this area...particularly Woolacombe beach! Leigh cottage gave us everything we needed and more. Clean and comfortable, beautiful location and plenty of room (which you need for a family of 7! The kitchen is very well equipped to enable a good standard of self catering, the dogs were happy with easy access to a secure garden (albeit at the front of the house which they weren't used to!) and we made use of the table tennis table etc on the couple of days of bad weather. Would definitely recommend to anyone that loves this area as much as we do!

“Great Place!”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2014

Fantastic time was had by all. Leigh Cottage offers all the amenities one could ask for. Very clean and tasetully decorated. The washing machine and tumble drier came in very handy with a young baby! Would definately recomend this property for anyone looking for a quiet break in a beautiful area with a young family.
