Inside is a large brand new sofa and an oak chest serves as a coffee table. A wood burning stove is available to use in case of chilly evenings. Logs are kindly supplied. There is a flatscreen TV with Freeview, DVD player, DVD selection and WIFI access is included, plus a range of books for holiday reading.

KITCHEN

The kitchen fills one side of the open plan living area. Featuring solid oak worktops, Belfast sink and range style cooker, the style is modern yet classic, functional and comfortable. The well equipped kitchen contains the following appliances: Dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, double oven, grill, electric hob, cafetiere, as well as a good supply of quality pots, pans, crockery and cutlery, plus a few essentials like a jug for Pimms!, perfect for those post surf sundowners on the deck. The kitchen table will comfortably seat 6 for meals, and extends to seat 8 people, with an additional breakfast bar for quick bites. In addition, a high chair can be provided at a small rental cost if required.

BEDROOMS

The TARTOOGA BEACH HOUSE has 3 bedrooms. The 2 main bedrooms are up a set of stairs from the living room, accessed off a landing with a large window with a sea view – the best place for checking the surf from inside the house.

Bedroom 1:

King-sized double bed with oak side tables and built-in wardrobe storage. There is also a Tall Boy dresser for clothes. Large windows offer a sea view, looking out over the beach and the downs.

Bedroom 2: Double bed, dresser and built-in wardrobe storage for clothes. The aspect of this room offers the best view of the beach from the house. With it's excellent sea view it is possible to check the surf in your pyjamas!

Both of these rooms have carpeted floors and underfloor heating.

Bedroom 3: Small bunk room. A large window, oak floors and underfloor heating ensure the room is sufficiently comfortable.

BATHROOM

Fully re-fitted as part of the refurbishment in 2011, the bathroom is clean, simple and modern. With all-white bathroom fittings, there is a bath with shower over, toilet and sink, plus a number of shelves and wicker baskets for storage. This is also the location of the airing cupboard.

OUTDOORS

The TARTOOGA BEACH HOUSE deck and garden is the main feature of the house. The unique layout of the building places the deck on top of the house - the elevated position offers an exceptional vantage point. This is the highlight of the house offering 180 degree jaw-dropping views over Woolacombe beach towards Putsborough and out to the end of Baggy Point.

The large glass fronted deck is the perfect place to spend a quiet afternoon in the hammock or enjoy cold beer or glass of wine in the evening. With garden table, chairs and parasol, you might find yourself spending many hours out here.

In the garden you will find the Moroccan snug and a large lawn area for kids to play on. The garden has been child-proofed as much as possible. There is also a fully maintained vegetable patch - please feel free to help yourself to any veg that is in season.

From the back of the garden a lockable gate offers access to a footpath that leads to Sunnyside Road or Sandy Lane – a handy cut through to the shops or beach.

There is a surfboard rack to store your surfboards and dry your wet wetsuits.

There is parking for 1 car. Bay View Road is a private road owned collectively by the residents. A parking permit is provided.

Take a boat trip to Lundy Island,or a coastal Wildlife Cruise, enjoy a day out on a fishing boat or saddle up and go horse riding across the sand dunes and bridleways. Woolacombe, extending to Putsborough, making a 3 mile sandy beach holds the 'England for Excellence Gold Award' for best family resort and was voted the Best British Beach in the Mail On Sunday. This stretch of golden sand has won both the blue flag and Premier Seaside Beach awards for its cleanliness, water quality and facilities. Lifeguards ensure safe family swimming during the summer and surfers come from all over the country to enjoy the great waves and clean water. Enjoy family friendly pubs, serving good pub grub. Spoil yourself at one of the many seafood restaurants in and around Woolacombe and Mortehoe, or just have a takeaway, fish and chips or a delicious cream tea as well as browse the many surf and variety shops. Visitors of all ages will find plenty to do away from the beach. There's a friendly, laid-back atmosphere here which visitors are sure to enjoy. Woolacombe and Mortehoe are very dog friendly areas with plenty of walks your dog will enjoy.

CYCLE TO - National Cycle Network,Devon Coast Route 27. This is a wonderfully scenic circular route on the North Devon coast with a link that allows a start and finish in Ilfracombe. and takes in two superb traffic free sections, the National Trust coast route beside the sea at Woolacombe Sands and the former railway path from Ilfracombe to Willingcott Cross. The remainder is along attractive minor roads through quiet villages and rolling Devon farmland.

DRIVE TO - Explore the beautiful Exmoor National Park. Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, The Milky Way and The Big Sheep all within a short driving distance. Cultural days can be passed at Arlington Court, historic Clovelly Village, Watermouth Castle, Lynton, Lynmouth, Victorian-styled Ilfracombe with its quaint fishing harbour and many more. Saunton Golf Course is a mere 3 miles down the road with its 2 famous links courses. Finally, picturesque walks through beautiful forested areas and running rivers such as at Watersmeet will complete your wonderful stay in this beautiful part of England.

“Beautiful Accommodation in a Beautiful Location”

We were really impressed with this holiday home, the number of steps to the front door were a slight challenge, especially with luggage but the standard of accommodation, the central location for the beach and the town and of course the view from the terrace made it worth it! Our only slight issue was that there appeared to be nowhere to dry washing, beach towels etc - some sort of airer or rotary line would have been really useful! This said we would not hesitate to book this again.
