Location description from owner

The England region

Described by the ancient Welsh Celts and the Saxons as the Land of the Summer People, Somerset is a county of captivating contrasts.

Its coast takes in long sweeping sandy beaches, seaside resorts, harbours and marinas, and the dramatic Exmoor coastline.

Venture inland to an epic countryside of protected landscapes, rolling hills, wild moorlands, ancient woodlands and wetland habitats, dotted with historic towns and villages.

At the heart of what makes Somerset tick is its' distinctive culture and history that includes willow and cider making, great local food & drink, the legends of Kings Arthur and Alfred and much more.

Wookey Hole

The Wookey House is set in an area rich in nature, and bursting with culture and history. Set in the historic village of Wookey Hole where footpaths lead from your door to the beauty of the Mendip Hills and Ebbor Gorge. Just a couple of miles from Britain's smallest city, a couple more to the exotic gem that is Glastonbury, and where the corner of every country lane hides another idyllic village.

If Kent is the Garden of England, then Somerset is the field behind the wall at the bottom of the garden, just waiting for you to hop over and explore it's fields, lanes and villages, and where the pace of life is kept to a gentle stroll.

The countryside is all around you, rich in wildlife and easily accessable. No visit to the area would be complete without an adventure into the Caves in Wookey Hole, a climb up to the top of Glastonbury Tor, a visit to the extraordinary scissor arches in Wells Cathedral, all washed down with some local cider.

“Fantastic New Years stay!”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2017

Wonderful location. Close to a lovely pub and next door to the Wookey Hole itself. Clean and surprisingly good sized house that makes fantastic use of the space! AnnMarie kept good communication and was very understanding when I unfortunately did not receive follow up information from TripAdvisor causing our booking to be cancelled! She also, very kindly, left us a bottle of prosecco for New Year's Eve when we arrived! Thank you for a great New Years break!

Thank you Laura, so pleased we could make your stay special

“Lovely house. modern yet traditional.”

Reviewed 14 May 2012

We were very impressed with Wookey House. Everything had been thoughtfully provided, all in excellent condition. Looks quite small from outside, but accommodated 6 adults and 3 dogs comfortably. Bedrooms very comfortable with plenty of storage. Didn't get to use the outside area due to the weather. The stairs down to the living area are a little steep so may not suit someone with mobility problems. Will definately return.
