“Great location and well equipped house”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2013

We stayed at Durham House for 3 nights to celebrate my mum's 80th Birthday. We were a mixed group of 9 adults and 3 children ranging from 9 months old to 2 years old. The house was very well equipped and comfortable and in a great location a short walking distance to shops, pubs etc. As we had small children with us we did a lot of cooking and eating at the house, the kitchen is extremely well equipped and the dining room big enough to seat all of us. There were travel cots and high chairs for the children and stair gates too. The only small thing was having enough parking for all the cars we had. One car can go in the garage and there is room for two in front of that. We had 2 more cars with us and had to do a bit of shuffling, but we managed and used the car park up at the garage on the main road which was a 2 minute walk away. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone that wanted to rent for a group or large family.

“Discover the delights of Wirksworth with fabulous accommodation.”

The perfect location for a weekend away or even a longer break. Caters for both small and large parties. Suitable for children. A warm welcome, awaits you in a clean and very comfortable house. Set in beautiful surroundings, there is plenty to do here all year round. Lovely owners too, who are very helpful indeed.

“Fantastic house, comfortable and great location”

Reviewed 29 Dec 2012

We stayed at Durham House for a long weekend of cycling for the guys and relaxing for the girls. The house is really well equipped, with comfy beds and a good mix of antique and modern furniture. Loved the open fire and the quirkiness of the house. It's a great location for walking and cycling and the town of Wirksworth has a great restaurant and some excellent pubs as well as a good selection of shops - butchers, bakers, etc. We plan to come back again next year.
