First floor: Double bedroom and twin bedroom, both with ample storage space. WC.

Bed linen, towels and tea towels are supplied and there will be enough firewood for an evening or two; more fuel is available locally. There is an iron, ironing board and a rotary dryer with pegs, plus hoover and basic cleaning supplies. Hairdryers are also provided. The heating can be programmed to meet your needs.

Outdoors:
The dining room has patio doors leading to a courtyard garden. This area has a raised pond (with suitable safety net) and a table and chairs for al fresco dining. A gate leads to a larger area, mainly lawned. The front garden is accessed from the parking area via a gate that secures the entire garden.

Children
A high chair and travel cot are available but please bring your own cot bedding. Removable stair gates are installed at the top and bottom of the stairs and there is a fire guard to protect toddlers. Some games are provided for older children too.

Pets
Dogs are welcome and the village is very dog-friendly. Please do not allow dogs upstairs or on the beds or furniture.

Accessibility Statement
Due to the age and style of property the cottage is not suitable for wheelchairs. There are internal steps between rooms downstairs and some doors have a threshold strip ( cm high) which might be difficult for anyone who has mobility problems. Similarly the shingled front drive and garden could be problematic. Please call the owner to discuss if this is of concern.

Winterton on Sea
The dunes are a nature reserve and an Area of outstanding Natural Beauty with SSSI and SAC status. They cover a huge area and are shared and enjoyed by bird watchers and walkers as well as families. Wildlife includes a colony of terns, natterjack toads and (thankfully rare) adders. The beach is vast and uncrowded and a colony of seals have made the beach to the north of the village their home.

The pretty and very friendly village has an excellent pub, boasting up to 5 guest ales and cider, good food and a varied menu with frequently updated "specials" menu. Well behaved dogs are welcome and will usually get a biscuit and a drink, too. The Hermanus holiday centre with its picturesque round houses is a few minutes walk from the cottage, it serves excellent food with a sea view and is open to non-residents. The village also boasts a Post Office + General Stores, a Chip Shop and a mini-mart. There is also the brilliant Dunes Cafe for breakfasts, ice creams, "proper" coffee, lunchtime specials, superb cakes, .. (I could go on...!) as well as beach essentials.

Further afield
Great Yarmouth is a typical English seaside town with a wide range of amusements, it also has a golf course, dog track and race course, cinemas, swimming pool, Sea Life centre, casino as well as plenty of bars and restaurants. The Norfolk Broads are on the doorstep and the historic city of Norwich is a short drive away. Bewilderwood, a "Curious treehouse adventure" is 30 minutes away, as are several National Trust properties.

Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

Norfolk is a real gem; miles of uncrowded sandy beaches, unspoilt countryside, historic waterways, pretty villages and market towns steeped in history. Hire a boat for the day and discover the Broads, hike or bike along the many trails and discover England at its best.

In the 11th century, Norwich was England's second city and is a delight to visit; see the Norwich 12 - from heritage sites dating back to 1067 to important modern buildings.

Winterton-on-Sea

Winterton-on-Sea is a traditional seaside village that has managed to avoid over-commercialisation. It has its share of holiday accommodation, but retains its individual character. The village itself is a Conservation Area and the dunes between the village and the beach is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Site of Special Scientific interest. The dunes are covered in grass, moss and heather and make for an enjoyable walk, aside from any interest you may have in the wildlife. A colony of seals "reside" on the beach to the north of the village and can often be seen playing in the waves along the coastline.

The cottage is less than 10 minutes walk from the beach and sand dunes. Care has been taken to provide everything from buckets and spades to games for the children. Large quiet bedroom downstairs and well equipped kitchen.togther with a bright dinning area and comfortable lounge. Two more comfortable bedrooms upstairs. Recommended.

“Gorgeous Cottage - Lovely Location”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2016

Had a truly magnificent stay in the lovely winterton-on-sea. Superb location right next door to the village pub serving excellent food and beer. The cottage had everything you could possibly need. Less than 5 mins walk to the beach with an excellent cafe doing breakfast or afternoon sandwiches. we have already booked to return in November and hope to book again for March

“Relaxing break”

Spacious clean cottage in perfect location , 3 mins to pub , 5 mins leisurely stroll to unspoilt dog friendly beach. Cottage has all you would need , master bedroom is huge with a really comfortable bed.

“A wonderfully relaxing weekend”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2014

What an idyllic location. A short walk to the dunes & shoreline. Beautiful beaches. The cottage was a great choice for our girlie weekend - tastefully decorated throughout. I can imagine it being very toasty in the colder weather with the log fire burning. I shared the downstairs bedroom, which was large and had its own ensuite shower room and doors to the patio. Definitely somewhere we'll be going again.

“Very comfortable and spacious cottage in great location.”

Reviewed 24 May 2014

With 3 friends I stayed at the cottage for a walking weekend . The cottage was very comfortably furnished with plenty of space to relax and spread ourselves out. Having 3 loos and 2 bathrooms was very accommodating for the daily ablutions, even for four blokes! The décor was in good order and there were all the facilities you would need especially for a longer stay. The cottage is in a quiet lane and very close to the local amenities. The villages shops, local pub, very nice beach café (thoroughly recommended) and the beach are only a couple of minutes walk away. The pub has good beer and decent pub grub, but the café was our favourite, sitting outside enjoying the view over miles of sandy beach.
