“Cosy cottage, great base for Peak District trips”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2016

Pretty village, very pretty cottage. We are two adults and two children (15 and 12) and it was perfect for us. Lots of games and DVDs for a wet, chilly evening in. Cottage is well equipped and warm - we needed to use the heat a few times while there last week of June - first week of July, and it was effective. Great base for local walks - using Winster Walks book from village store which is well worth the price. Also further afield for Peak District hikes: we walked from Hartington to Pilsbury Castle, around Dovedale from Ilam, around Eyam. Lots of things to see and do: Chatsworth, Hardwicke Hall, Kedlestone Hall, Lead Mining Museum and Arkwright's Mill in Matlock Bath. We also walked around Bakewell and Matlock. Were in the village for Wakes Week which is lots of fun. Would highly recommend to couples or families. The village is very pretty with houses connected by steep paths and so not suitable for anyone who cannot walk far.
