The Lodge sleeps up to 13 people in five bedrooms with two bathrooms with all bed linen provided. The Lodge is centrally heated throughout The Lodge with no additional heating charges. The Lodge is within 5 minutes easy walking distance to all local amenities in Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere. The Lodge overlooks Sheriff Walk Woods with pathways leading down to the shores of Lake Windermere. There is public transport and there is no need for a car as the public transport provides access throughout the Lake District National Park.

The West Coast Railway line from mainline railway station London, Euston to Oxenholme The Lake District takes approximately 3 hours. The train then carries on to Glasgow and Edinburgh in Scotland. At Oxenholme The Lake District railway station you stay on the platform opposite to catch the train to Windermere, which takes 30 minutes.

If travelling by car, please leave the M6 Motorway at junction 36 and take the A590 / A591 towards the market

Approaching Windermere taking the first left into the village past Windermere Railway Station. Follow the road through Windermere Village and proceed down Lake Road (A5074) towards Bowness-on-Windermere.

Opposite The Lodge, bus route 599 takes you directly to Grasmere village and to Wordsworth's Cottage and there are bus connections, which allows travel all over the Lake District National Park. There are numerous taxi and cab companies located at Windermere Railway Station and the surrounding areas. There is also a mountain bus, which also operates from Windermere. From Bowness-on-Windermere Marina, you can catch a ferry to take you near to Grasmere. Bus 555 goes to Keswick, Kendal and to Lancashire Bus Stations where there are bus connections to Morecambe and Blackpool beaches.

Within a 5-minute walk in either direction there are churches, banks, post offices, restaurants, cafes, coffee / tea shops, wine bars, tapas bars, pubs, inns, hotels, independent specialist shops, supermarkets, boutiques, libraries, theatres, cinemas, internet computer shops, art galleries, museums and sports centres. Windermere, Oxenholme and Kendal railway and bus/coach stations are close by with local buses travelling throughout the National Park.

The Lodge provides access by means of the nearby A591 to the market towns of Kendal and A65 to Kirby Lonsdale. Close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and nearby to the M6 motorway to Scotland, Carlisle, Penrith, and Lancaster (leading to the Port of Heysham with sailings to the Isle of Man with sailings to the Cities of Belfast in Northern Ireland and to Dublin in Southern Ireland). The M6 motorway to Preston, Manchester and Birmingham and nearby A1 motorway to the Cities of Newcastle, Sunderland, York, and Leeds. Windermere bus station and Windermere railway station, Oxenholme railway station and Kendal station are all close by with mainline rail connections to: Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports, Carlisle, Barrow-in-Furness, Lancaster, Preston, Manchester, Manchester Airport, Liverpool, Liverpool Airport, North Wales and South Wales, London and to all the major London Airports, Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and London City and channel sea ports, major rail stations and euro tunnel rail services to Europe.

Quiet residential area. There are many churches of different denominations. Shops and restaurants are five minutes walk from The Lodge.

The many visitor attractions nearby include Beatrice Potter's home and museum. Brockhole Visitors' Centre, Lake Aquarium at Lakeside at Newby Bridge is close by. Countless National Trust historical houses abound in this fascinating area with Blackwell, Holker Hall in Cartmel, Sizergh Castle, and Levens Hall to name but a few. The home of William Wordsworth, the poet is at Dove Cottage and William Wordsworth’s museum both close by in the Lakeland village of Grasmere with John Ruskin's John Ruskin's elegant home at Brantwood and museum are both nearby in the Lakeland village of Coniston by Lake Coniston.

Windermere Train Station is within a 15-minute walk allowing a train journey to the market town of Kendal, the town of Penrith and to the City of Carlisle. Buses stop outside the property, which buses journey throughout the Lake District Park. Windermere bus and coach station is within a 15-minute walk from the property. There are minicab, taxi services and car hire services close by, Bicycle hire is available in Windermere and boat hire is available at the marina in Bowness-on- Windermere.
