Location description from owner

The England region

The Lake District, also known as The Lakes or Lakeland, is a mountainous region in North West England. A popular holiday destination, it is famous for its lakes and its mountains (or fells), and its associations with the early 19th century poetry and writings of William Wordsworth and the Lake Poets.

Windermere

Windermere is the largest natural lake in England. It is a ribbon lake formed in a glacial trough after the retreat of ice at the start of the current interglacial. It has been one of the country’s most popular places for holidays and summer homes since 1847, when the Kendal and Windermere Railway built a branch line to it. It is in the county of Cumbria and entirely within the Lake District National Park.

“Perfect Get Away”

Reviewed 8 May 2017

Stayed for 3 nights ..... Perfect location , so quiet but central by car for all the Lakes .... Just a short walk into Windermere village , lots of lovely coffee shops and restaurants but a bit further for Bowness to me you would need to go by car unless you are a serious walker but for me with bad knees the car is a must ..... Cottage is very comfortable and clean and perfect for 2 people to stay ... Bed is very comfortable and bedroom is light and airy with lots of storage , but if you are like me and always take too many clothes (let's face it with the beautiful lakes you never know what the weather will be like) there are not a lot of hangers so take some of your own..... Only problem I had was the steep slope up to the cottage , not for my car as that was fine but for me having bad knees this was a struggle so if you are in any way disabled then you wouldn't be able to manage the slope..... Saying that though I did manage it but slowly and it was worth it to stay there...... Kitchen has a lovely big fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave, gas hob and electric oven cooker, so everything you would need.... One tip I would say though is when you are coming out of the driveway back onto the main road keep you car to the left going out otherwise you will scrape the bottom of you car...... Myself and my partner had the perfect stay and I would definitely rebook to stay again... Many thanks to the owners
