Wigan

The area has many interesting places to visit, including Wigan Pier - Wallgate, Wigan, Lancashire, WN3 4EU. Telephone 01942 323666. The Pier is now one of the area's favourite visitor attractions. The Heritage Centre includes an authentic sample of Lancashire life at start of the 20th century - from school to factory; from home to the coal face. Just down the canal is the Trencherfield Mill which lays claim to the world's largest working mill steam engine. Wigan Pier Theatre Company tells the story of the Pier and Mill with dramatic performances in a range of settings.

Haigh Country Park, Haigh, Blackrod, Wigan, WN2 1PE. Telephone 01942 832895. Great for walks through stunning woodland and parkland, or if you're treating yourself to some of the finest cuisine in the region, Haigh Hall and Country Park has so much to offer.

Walking and Cycling Trails of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal

There are three trails along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. These tours form part of the wider Manchester's Countryside Initiative which in partnership with Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham, looks to raise awareness of and encourage visits to the rural attractions of North Manchester - which offers over 500 square miles of wonderful landscapes, historic and picturesque waterways, hidden gems of villages, quaint places to eat and drink and fantastic opportunities for rural pursuits, whether walking or cycling.

The Wigan trails offer tow-path based routes combining natural history and heritage. They include: Wigan Pier to Arley Hall, Wigan Pier to Appley Bridge and Wigan Pier to Leigh Bridge.

“Will stay here again!”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2016

This loft had it all, space, location, amenities. The only down side I can see being an issue for someone would be the 3 flights of stairs, but we loved it and it wasn't an issue of us or our family. We had 6 adults and 2 babies one night for dinner and drinks and there was lots of room for everyone!

Thank you, we are happy you enjoyed your stay and hope you visit us again. Your positive comments are appreciated.
