Description

The Artist's Studio sits on a hillside surrounded by fields and woodland in a designated AONB at the end of a rural lane. Panoramic windows and the south facing balcony give uninterrupted views across the beautiful valley. The private lower terrace is a sheltered sun trap that also looks out over the lawn to the valley below, the perfect place to relax and unwind. An abundance of wildlife including deer and badger frequent the garden and fields below, and the local area is excellent for bird watching and walking.

Originally a farm building, The Artist's Studio was converted into an artist's studio twenty three years ago. This year it has been extensively refurbished by interior designer Susie Stocks to create stunning and luxurious accommodation for two. With central heating and a wood burner, this relaxing cosy retreat can be enjoyed year round.

The local village of Wilmington is 2 miles away and has a popular pub and hotel, both serving meals.

Honiton, once famous for lace making, is a Georgian market town 15 minutes drive away. It holds a twice weekly street market and has many antique centres, two auction houses, independent shops and two art galleries including the wonderful Hybrid art gallery. There are two good gastro pubs, The Railway and The Holt, which is Otter Brewery's own bar and restaurant. Classes in smoking, curing, and bread making are held at the restaurant.

The small town of Axminster is 15 minutes to the east of the Artist's Studio. On the way is Millers Farm shop with its extensive selection of both local and French produce. Axminster is home to the River Cottage Canteen. River Cottage Headquarters, nearby, hosts cookery courses and special events throughout the year. 15 minutes further on is Lyme Regis, famous for its Cobb, and part of the World Heritage site Jurassic Coast. The seaside villages of Branscombe and Beer are a pretty 20 minute drive away.

The cathedral city of Exeter sitting on the river and canal, is an easy 30 minute drive away. Further afield, Dartmoor, Exmoor, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are all within reach for a day out.
