Description

PLEASE NOTE: This property DOES allow children aged 5 and over.

Beside a peaceful moorland lane in a tiny, sleepy hamlet lies this delightful cottage. The smaller part of a former barn, it has been beautifully converted and is surrounded by the rolling scenery to be found near the edge of Dartmoor. With its thick stone walls and solid craftsmanship the building feels sturdy and welcoming. The two bedrooms are downstairs and there's a very spacious open-plan living area above, reached by a fine oak staircase from the entrance hall. The profusion of exposed scissor beams upstairs provides a wonderfully barn-like feel but the luxurious seating, stylish wood burner and high-quality fitted kitchen are all right up to the minute.

Accommodation:

Entrance from parking space to flagged hall with French door at far end leading to the garden. On left, three steps up to a double bedroom with kingsize bed. En suite shower room/wc with ‘monsoon’ shower. Separate

Location description from manager

The England region

Approximately three miles from Widecombe-in-the Moor, famous for its annual fair, Lower Cator is cradled in a more pastoral landscape than the wild, higher parts of the moor. Superb walks and cycle rides start from the door; there are several riding stables nearby and visitors can even hire a llama to carry the picnic! Climbing is popular and there is excellent fishing on the beautiful rivers and streams.

Widecombe in the Moor

Away from the moor, too, the holidaymaker is spoilt for choice. The whole region is full of interesting places to visit, from sandy beaches, hidden coves and magnificent cliff walks in the nearby South Hams to ancient towns such as Ashburton, the cities of Exeter and Plymouth, and many fine houses and gardens. The surfing beaches of the North Devon coast are exciting destinations and much of Cornwall with its dramatic coastline can be explored during a day’s outing.
