The Kent region
Kent is full of historic towns and pretty villages and has outstanding countryside (go to the North Downs). There are many great places to dine out, from sophistcated bars and reataurants to gastro pubs. There are some fabulous market towns and Canterbury is a must see. The region is also famous for its orchards and hop farms. Try a drive out to the vineyards to sample the award winning sparkling and white wines. Kent is truly the garden of England.
Whitstable is the gem on the North Kent coast. Just one and a half hours from the centre of London by road or rail. Famous for its oysters, the regatta and its beach huts: frequented by overseas visitors, the town has become "the place to stay". Speciality shops, good range of restaurants (celebrity chef Richard Phillips at the Pearson’s Arms and the famous Wheeler’s Oyster Bar) and two Michelin-starred ones within easy distance. Local pubs have interesting live music. Whitstable also has a thriving arts vibe. Although Whitstable has become busier, it has a tasteful and relaxed, chic feel to it. All based in a uniquely preserved seaside conservation area. It is reputed to have more independently owned shops in the high street than any other high street in England. The town features frequently in Sunday supplements and magazines.
Amenities: arts centre, bowling, tennis courts and swimming pool, golf, sailing, canoeing. Whitstable Castle is also worth a visit with its pretty gardens and tea room and fabulous views across the bay. Weekend market by the harbour.

"A Beautiful, clean, well finished, well equipped comfortable home."
Stumbled on this by chance and we were absolutely thrilled with the standard of accommodation. The owner left out bread, eggs and condiments which was greatly appreciated. We also had the facility to barbecue which was great in the 'Summer' months. Everything is beautifully decorated - such taste and style. Homily without feeling cluttered. If you want a boutique feel, comfotable large rooms with plenty of light and high ceilings. Excellent. Location wise - spot on right next to the harbour. Great value for money. Only 1 bathroom - but it wasn't an issue for us (6 ladies) as we were there only for the weekend. A wonderful stay and we highly recommend!

"Home From Home!"
What a Beautiful cottage! I didn't want to leave! We had a lovely girl’s weekend in this cottage... I’d recommend to anyone that wants a nice break to stay here.. The locals were great and the cottage was beautiful - probably exactly how I would decorate my own home! the parking was cheap and easy - it wasn't hard to find at all and you are right on the town to catch up with the activities that are going on... plenty of cute little shops to keep you occupied - we were lucky enough to go on harbour weekend.. As we were arriving a local informed us that it would be a noisy weekend because of the festivities.. (We’re from London so was quite happy with a bit of noise... even though we didn't a good job at making some swell being 6 girls all together!) The cottage was supplied with everything you'd need for even a long stay there! Even arrived to bread and milk.. And butter.. You don't need to take tea or sugar either.. Practically everything was there... amazing! Anyway... defiantly stay here... I'm planning on heading back soon... even for a comfy winter warm comfy break! I am in love with the Whitstable cottage!
