We decided to explore Tankerton in Kent but finding good accommodation on a beautiful sunny weekend at the last minute was proving tricky. We were extremely lucky to have found the Margherita which was perfect for us, a family of five.The location was great, walking distance to Whitstable and very close to the beach. Great restaurants around and being on top of the high street meant we could easily go food shopping. The flat was clean and specious, and felt very comfortable. We even managed to have a BBQ downstairs in the back garden which was a real treat. We would recommend the flat without hesitation and look forward to staying there again one day.The Somekh family.

There is a garage and parking for one car. There is plenty of off road parking available very close to the property for extra vehicles by the sea front which is a 5 minute walk.. The garden belongs to the apartment and has a lovely seating area where you can enjoy a bbq and drinks on balmy summer evenings. There is additional storage in the garden for bikes/push chairs etc.

Three bikes can be rented out at £10 per bike .

Whitstable is situated in South East Kent, the garden of England. Whitstable is famous for it's annual oyster festival and fabulous shops and restaurants. Canterbury is only 6 miles away, boasting Canterbury Cathedral and a fabulous shopping area. Dobver Castle and Leeds Castle are all within a half hour drive away and well worth a visit. Treat your self to a day out in France on the ferries that operate from Dover or the Eurotunnel from Folkestone.

Whitstable

The Oyster Festival is a famous annual event in Whitstable. It runs from 21st - 27th July 2012 and includes:

Traditional pastimes like crabbing, kite flying, chalking and Punch and Judy plus workshops, explorations, and street entertainment.
See recreations of traditional events unique to Whitstable’s fishing history. As well as the symbolic Landing of the Catch, colourful Oyster Parade and annual Blessing of the Waters ceremony, you can also learn the art of building grotters.

Whitstable is home to thriving arts, crafts and performing arts communities all year round, and most come out to play this week. You’ll see home grown talent as well as guest performers from further afield.

The famous Whitstable Oyster is reason why Whitstable is synonymous with superb food. Another more recent reason is the 2 day EPICentre of local foods in the town’s working harbour. Come to the Festival and discover just why Whitstable is so popular with foodies.

“Relaxing, comfortable accommodation in great location.”

The apartment is well furnished and feels homely and spacious. The location is great for local amenities and is less than two minutes to the beach. I would recommend this apartment for couples and families with young babies or children who are older than "toddling stage". We would definitely return.

“A very nice place to stay”

The flat is very comfortable, very nicely decorated and very well-furnished. It is also spacious, light and very well-equipped. There is an internet access, which is quite useful.The kitchen and one bedroom have a view on the sea, which is really nice. There is a small garden, with a garden shed and a BBQ. It has to be noted that the flat is on the second floor and this might not be easy with a pushchair (although you can leave the pushchair downstairs, in the hallway) or for people with reduced mobility. It has to be said too that the owner is very kind and very helpful. The flat is very close to the beach and to the Tankerton slopes (lovely place to have a walk or a picnic). Whitstable castle is also within walking distance and there, you can find a lovely park and games for children. We also enjoyed walking on what is called "The Street" at low tide, and we simply loved the harbour and its surroundings (you can eat delicious oysters there, they are quite cheap and sold as a take away). There are quite a few shops and take aways very close to the flat (including a small Tesco and a pharmacy), as well as lovely shops on the main street in Whitstable. There are also many things to see and do in the area such as visits to Canterbury, Sandwich, Herne Bay or even London. We came here from France with our three young daughters (9,7 and 4) and they also had a lovely holiday. We would all love to come back and will definitely recommend the flat to our friends.

Whitstable during the oyster festival was great. Seafood and oysters everywhere, great shells at the stony beach. The appartment was spacy, we felt very much at home there. Well equipped. the beacht, bakery, butcher, supermarket and bus-stop are near-by. there is a lovely little back-yard. Absolutely recommendable.

Well presented apartment, with all the necessary facilities for a comfortable stay, good local shops and facilities. Comfortable beds and sofas, apartment was quite baby proof with the exception of some extension cables, which are a necessary evil. Stairs were a struggle by the end of the week with the buggy and baby. Listing states suitable for people with limited mobility, which I would disagree, due to the stairs to the second floor. Area is suitable however, as promenade along the beach is accessible by ramps and the walk to whitstable is flat once you are at the beach level. Would advise taking travel blackout blind for second bedroom if you are taking a baby/young child. The apartment could do with a high chair or booster seat and the apartment would have been perfect for us. There is a sea view from the apartment, however this is much better after the short walk (less than 5 mins) from Tankerton Road to the beach! We cannot praise the local businesses enough, very friendly. There a numerous takeaways, bars, gift shops, grocery stores just outside the front door. Good value for money, delapidation deposit is high for a weeks stay, however this shouldn't be too much of an issue if returned promptly. Owner was available for any queries, and gave lots of information about the local area. Good welcome pack as well for information at your leisure.
