The England region

Kent is steeped in history and heritage and is also rightly renowned throughout the world as the "Garden of England". The extensive coastline boasts an enviable array of blue flag award winning beaches and thrilling watersports activities. Choose from enchanting gardens, historic houses, mysterious castles, cathedrals and country churches, fascinating museums, animal parks, steam trains, amazing maritime heritage and much more including active fun, Kent, the Garden of England has something for everybody.

Kent offers a wonderful setting for walking and cycling in the North Downs and the High Weald. Knole Park is a magnificent 1000 acre deer park worth visiting, as are Hever Castle, childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Leeds Castle, described as one of the loveliest castles in the world, and historic Canterbury Cathedral.

Shopping facilities in Kent are plentiful with regular food and craft markets held in many of the towns and villages. There are shopping centres such as Bluewater, one of the largest indoor shopping malls and London is easily accessible.

Whitstable

Whitstable is famous for its oysters which have been collected since Roman times and are on sale from one of the stalls in the harbour. It has one of very few remaining working harbours with a small fleet of fishing boats - you can buy fresh fish straight from the catch. It has a pretty coastline where you can enjoy a stroll or take to the water or just sit and experience spectacular sunsets over the sea. Whitstable is renowned for its trendy shops and art galleries and excellent restaurants as well as a large selection of pubs and bars catering for all tastes. Whistable has something for everyone and you will want to come back again and again to this seaside haven, just over one hour from London.

The historic cathedral city of Canterbury is only 6 miles away with its interesting medieval centre and many other roman and historic museums and places to visit.

“Cosy Whitstable cottage situated close to all important ameneties”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2017

Cosy terraced cottage superbly situated within short walking distance of Whitstable High Street, beach, harbour, shops, pubs and cafes etc. For the few days we stayed everything we needed was there. We were lucky enough to find roadside parking close by most of the time but had to use the pay and display car park just down the road if none was available. This was no problem in March but may be an issue in peak seasons. The property manager ,Julie, met us at the house and showed us where everything was and we really appreciated her flexible attitude to making our stay as enjoyable as possible. "Thanks Julie".
